congrats, just remember that this is where your learning curve will really beging so be careful and remember it takes time to get used to motorcycles.

Inusrance for bikes is fairly easy and I have always been with Bikesure via Adrian Flux IIRC for over 8 years. Always been good and cheap for me.

Jon, I am a big fan of YOU..!!

Please don't make it a past tense issue....;) Bikes are a deathtrap in the right hands. Track it pal, don't trust the public with your life.....;)

Perhaps I am a little over zealous but I had a moment of luck when I was 17 and slid under an artic on a 125 and came out the other side of the trailer. The bike was not so lucky and was posted back to me in bits..!!

Keep safe pal..!!

Hi Gatso and others. Please note i passed back in feb.

Hows it going, hmmmm.

I have done about 1000 miles and get neck ache every time i go out.

Im still not cumfortable on the bike although i had been learning to wheelie which was fun.

Then i went out one day and didnt feel right on the bike so i was taking it really easy. Went to park it in town and dropped it but thanks to crash bungs it didnt do any damage.

That was the last time i used the bike as i had my wrist damaged in a non fault car accident. :(

All in all, not great so far. Oh and i want to change the bike as its too slow and cause of the neck pain.

How are you getting on Gatso?

How are you getting on Gatso?

Sorry Jon, I knew the thread was old but was just looking for an update - I did say I was resurrecting it, but others missed this :)

Really, really enjoying it, only done about 1500 miles so far but did my longest trip two weeks ago (long way round to Brighton Burn Up) about 250 miles and just loving it more & more as I get more confident.

Keep looking at faster bikes but keep telling myself NO, wait !

Like you, my first sports bike but only suffer with painful wrists and seems to be getting easier as I relax my grip

I do have second thoughts sometimes as a local guy died three weeks ago just round the corner & a guy in the SV club last week.

The trouble is that it feels so safe when your'e on it and it's so much fun :D

Did a Police BikeSafe course which I recommend, good and free !

Hope you have a bit more fun before the weather turns.

Cheers

Gerry

I can't ride bikes anymore, To scared whenever I approach a junction/roundabout/dual carriageway etc. I have had 5 bikes and 4 accidents, none of which were my fault I must add.

The most severe accident I had was when I wasn't even moving! The dangers just don't seem worth it anymore. People are in to much of a rush to take that extra look for motorbikes.

Sorry Jon. I missed the fact that this was an old thread but I was half pissed when I posted up..!!

Glad to hear that you are not enjoying the bike mate. i have seen you in a car and I thought that this is not a good mix....:D

I love bikes and the feeling they give you but on public roads it's a lottery to get home at night. Just not worth it in reality now, too many bad drivers these days.

Havard, Aero-M, I know exactly where you are both coming from. Nearly everyone I used to hang about with on bikes have had a smash in one form or another. Most if not all of them have given up road riding due to the associated risks involved. A couple of them are no longer with us; I came very close do departing myself through no fault of my own.

It really is a case of not IF you come a cropper, but when, with the way people drive now days.

Just go safe Jon:)
