scooby999
What is the metal prong sticking out of the pads on the jspec. Its the inner pad both sides. Mine is fouling on the caliper so will this cause a problem or will i need to bend it out the way? Paul
patrikbrunt
im sure its the outer pad on mine... and didnt get in the way? maybe you have them on the wrong side?

scooby999
Just read the guide, see pic, and ive done it as per that so the metal notch on the pad is on the inside Notch seen on pad here: Does this go top or bottom of the caliper? patrikbrunt
Maybe its different on the fronts, but im sure when I changed my rears the other day that lil metal bit was on the outer pad, and at the bottom I think? Is it only on 2 of the 4 pads? or all 4?
scooby999
Just 2 mate and got the tabs at the top. They are wedge onto the caliper itself. I will swap them over the wknd so the tab is at the bottom both sides and see how that goes. Must have got something wrongs as they were smoking whne i got back from a short run lol
patrikbrunt
yeh id try swapping left for right so that the tab is at the opposite end, see if that helps
Homer
IIRC the first pic you posted looks correct, the pad needs to sit inside the tabs. If you have fitted them correctly and they are overheating are you sure you don't have a stuck slider? And make sure you use some copper grease and fit the anti-squeal shims! Guest Garfy
the metal tab you speak off is the wear indicator, its designed to rub on the disc and make a noise when the pads get low, so you wont cause any problems by bending it slightly, just make sure it will still contact the disc before the pad wears away
scooby999
The old pads didnt have the anti squeal bits fitted? I think the wear indicator is fouling on the caliper so could be causing it not to return properly. cheers guys, will check sliders too
