GazzaGSi
Does anyone use headphones for gaming? (ps3 or 360) I am after a set of earphones (ideally wireless or bluetooth) to use for when the family has gone to bed. For some reason they do not appreciate COD blairing out of the surround sound at 3am.... Ive lost myself in researching info on what headphones do what etc and got a banging headache as I just do not know what to buy Any recommendations? These look smart: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/motorola-s805-bluetooth-headphones-handson-first-look-200985.php But can they only be used as a mic on the PS3 and not transfer the sound of the game in them? These are some other options Ive found: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3511366/-/Product.html?searchstring=bluetooth+headphones&searchsource=0# http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DRBT21GB-Stereo-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B000QIMQAI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Freepulse-Headphones-Transmitter-980461-0120/dp/B000LBAUB2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.trustedreviews.com/multimedia/review/2005/04/27/Sennheiser-HD-215-headphones/p1 wired though. http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=437&subcategory=442&product=16337&nav=1&listby= PC only? http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/hi-fi-and-audio/headphones/panasonic-rp-wf930-95320/review Im struggling to get my head round, are bluetooth earphones just Mic's or do they transmit the sound too? Wireless seems good, the transmitter plugs into the 3.5mm earphone jack but people say they get quite bad 'hissing'? Looking to spend around £50. They can be wired, i'll just get an extension. Cheers for any help

Al Massey
Do you just want to hear the game play or be able to hear the other players and talk to them?

Al Massey
So all you need or want is wireless headphones and just plug the jack in the TV
GazzaGSi
Yes but been advised to go via bluetooth due to the hissing sound from wireless. But, do bluetooth earphones work with the PS3? My bluetooth headset does but is purely for chatting. If I bought some bluetooth headphones how would the ps3 know to play the sound through them and not my normal surround sound? caseys
If you can stretch to £60 I'd say buy a pair of Plantronic P590. They're an excellent bluetooth headset for gaming, will also pair with your phone and also comes with a bluetooth dongle with a 3.5mm jack in it so you can connect it to an iPod etc and listen to music wirelessly. It then also cuts out the music when your paired phone rings. Good bass response, an extendable mic and battery lasts 10 hours odd Oh and yeah they'll connect as a chat headset on the PS3 as it classes itself as a bluetooth headset. GazzaGSi
Is it this set: http://www.wmexperts.com/reviews/bluetooth_headsets/review_plantronics_pulsar_p590.html If so I think im sold. Can the mic on the headset be paired with the ps3 and the heaset also be paired with the 3.5mm transmitter at the same time? This way I would get gaming sound through the headset and also be able to use it as a mic. Thanks for the recommendation
caseys
Yep that's the set The charging cradle is nice and firm. A bonus is the USB charging lead so you could in theory just charge this off the PS3 Yes, you can pair one bluetooth device to the headset as well as it being paired with the dongle. But the way you want it though will not be feasable, I don't think any bluetooth headset does that as that's two sources of sound. The game sound goes via the AV lead (into your TV) and the mic/headset sound goes via the bluetooth transmitter on the PS3. You'll be hard pushed to find any headset that will give the game sound through the speakers as well as the mic/chat functionality simultaneous. Not even the official Sony stuff allows the in-game sound to go through it's speaker. I don't know if the 360 allows anything like that either. It's fine for gameplay sound though I was using my pair before I got the official Sony headset for cheap as I keep my 590s paired to my mobile phone and didn't like the hassle of pairing between phone/ps3 all the time. GazzaGSi
Cheers thanks for the info. I was unsure if it was possible. The only heaset I know of that can do this is here: http://www.limexb360.co.uk/product/Ear_Force_PX1_Voice_Chat_%2B_Game_sound_for_the_PS3_In_Stock_TBEFPX1 But looks like I'd have a spagetti junction around the TV stand with the amount of wires
