supra_aero
Wondering if anyone can help. Basically my laptop is running low on space all the time but I just noticed you can get 16GB sd cards for less than £20. So thinking of buying that and using it as an additional hard disc pretty much. My question or worry is, if it ever gets nicked or lost I don't want the data to be accessible by anyone on the street. Can I put passwords or encryptions on to the SD card? I have no idea if and how it would be done. Thanks for your help in advance.
michael
You could get a Sandisk Cruzer USB jobby, they are password protected and let you carry U3 applications around with you: http://uk.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1013)-SanDisk_Cruzer_USB_Flash_Drives.aspx Would it not be easier to just put a bigger hard disk in the machine though? Jake
Not a suitable option IMO 'cos reading/writing to SD cards and the like is very slow. As Michael said, getting a larger HDD would be the better option.
supra_aero
Thanks for your responses. I 'could' get a bigger HD, but I don't want to go through the hassle of re-isntalling windows and all my other programs and then copying all the files on after that. Or is there a way to do a straight copy of everything including windows to the new HD and I'd just then stick it in and I am away with more space? Yup, there is an old bit of software called norton ghost which will allow you to copy the disk over and expand it
