tonyhawk
I'm going single soon, but I'm confused about the IC pipe from the tubbie. From all the searches I've done and piccys I've seen, the pipe seems to be clean, with no taps from it for the boost controller feed or the dump valve? I have seen the dump valve mounted on the intake side, but I cannot find that pipe for sale anywhere? In addition, I cannot find a concise answer about which pipe(s) I will need for a GT35R? All the answers I find say "get one fabricated" I don't know any fabricators, so that's a bit of a stumbling block and I'm surprised that more standard 'off the shelf' options don't exist? Granted I may be looking in the wrong place (hopefully), but I need some help! Could anyone help with info on what I need to buy to plumb in the IC out port of a GT35R into the existing IC pipework and how I then get a feed for the boost controller and dump valve? Thanks Tony
tonyhawk
Anyone have any thoughts?
Scott
Most people mount the dump valve to the pipe that leads into the throttle body. The only pipe you need to get fabricated is the one at the drivers side that comes from just after the hole to your turbo outlet. These have nothing to do with boost pressure, its your wastegate & actuator that controls the boost pressure.
SimonB
What manifold do you have? Do you have a FMIC and if so what make? The different manifolds position the turbo in different places - if you have one from one of the kits, like a boostlogic, PHR etc then you may be able to get a pre-made pipe for common front mounts (i.e. Greddy). If you have an Ebay special then you won't. You can fabricate something yourself, several companies make pipe bend sections, 90 degree, 45 degree etc. You can buy several of those, cut to size and use silicon connectors between them. You could then go to someone who can make you up a pipe, or weld the sections you have together. As for the BOV, you will need a weld-on flange to suit whatever BOV you have. Then you'll need someone who can weld aluminium to weld it onto the pipe going from your intercooler to intake. The pressure take off for the boost controller comes from a fitting on the compressor cover normally - you have to drill and tap a hole and get a screw in hose barb. There are another two connections on the wastegate made via screw in hose barbs too normally.
paul mac
as Simon says Tony unfortunately due to all the miriad combinations of manifolds turbos and intercoolers there really is not a standard pipe that will connect up the IC and turbo unless you buy one of the kits from PHR, BL etc, it is relatively easy to sought the pipes out, all mine (2 1/2") came from ebay USA. The boost controller can be tee'ed off the wastegate conection straight off the turbo, the BOV wants to be on the turbo side of the intercooler, for it to do its job it needs to be as close to the turbo as you can get it, the pics are how i did it, i think i have more if you need them
tonyhawk
Thanks for the answers, that's exactly what I needed to know! I have the HKS dump valve; do you know who can supply the weld on flange? I wasn't aware that the tubbie had an output like that, it certainly makes life a lot easier Thanks everyone. Nic
I can supply a flange for the HKS BOV, mine was mounted between the turbo and FMIC, you can see the flange welded onto the IC pipe on the attached pic. What kit are you fitting? The HKS kit with Garrett GT35R kits I sell are designed to fit a J-spec Supra, so no modification/fabrication to the IC pipe required. tonyhawk
Thanks for that; how much are they and do you have them in stock? If so, how long will she shipping take? I can't afford a new kit so I've cobbled one together from a GT358466R tubbie, re-worked (re-welded and honed) XS power manifold, HKS wastegate and screamer pipe and XS downpipe. I've also got 800cc SARD injectors, a second Walbro and SARD FPR, so fuelling should be ok. The engine is already built, so I just need the above bits

Unfortunately you're going to have to fabricate something then. Probably your best bet is going to be to buy some pipe sections and rig something up.
