Impreza brake check

Dash Rendar

Recommended Posts

My Impreza's brakes feel quite unresponsive at the moment. At a glance, the discs and pads look fine (although the rear pads are maybe a bit low).

Do you think it's worth taking the car to Kwik Fit for their free brake check, or do you think they would ultimately rip me off? (I don't know what their reputation is like.)

I would not recommend the free brake check, they will probably tell you your discs and pads are under spec and need replacing.

If you don't know when the fluid was changed last I would change that first as its the cheapest option to rule out and you will at least know its been done. Are your pads glazed?

A friend of mine who's a mechanic checked it out today. He said the brake fluid looked fine, but that the brake discs were scored and could do with replacing.

Dammit.

If the fluid is over 18 months old it needs replacing. I changed it im my Corvette, it looked fine but I knew it was old - big improvement!

Just out of interest mate which impreza do you have? I'm looking at getting one but don't know how reliable they are etc

:)

Sorry for not replying sooner. I've been in a location bereft of Internet connection for a couple of days! It's a 2001 WRX Turbo, stock. Check my garage...
