RedM
Or just being plain retarded to buy one of them. Why would that be? Having driven one I found it comfortable, economical, plenty quick enough for the sort of driving in traffic that it would spend 99% of it's life doing and it had a decent enough boot for our needs. In fact almost the polar opposite of a Supra. What would be more retarded. Buying an unsuitable car or a suitable one?
jamesmark
Blah blah, £25k for a little BMW disk. Go on, knock yourself out.
johnny g
£25k is a lot of money - but to say someone is a retard to buy this car is slightly arrogant, isn't it? How many people would say we're arrogant to spend £10k on a full single conversion, to a car that's worth less than £8k in reality? It's horses for courses, as said before. Just because it's not YOUR cup of tea, it doesn't mean that it's not somebody elses... I love my Supra, but I couldn't live with it day to day, so I don't use it for that. As RedM said, you buy a suitable car for what you want - if the Ford does that, then why shouldn't somebody buy it? It's their money, it's a free society... I do not need a lecture from someone who has been here 5 minutes. Check back (if you have time or can be bothered) the exchanges between me and Martin, it's all in a bit of fun. Bobbeh
How about lets just settle with the Toyota iQ - that's the future of our motoring world!

I can't be bothered, but "in jokes* aren't visible over the 'net, are they? I wasn't lecturing you, per sé, anyways. Touchy.
RedM
I'm with Mr. G on this. I love Supras but I find that the sneering snobbery and/or rose-tinted spectacles of 'some' owners to be reason enough (although there are many others) to never buy another Supra. I agree too, as per my comment earlier in this thread re the mentality that the Supra seems to be the only car in the world.
toyotasupra1980
The Supra isn't a brand new car. I know it's hard to grasp but a lot of people like to buy new cars, you may have seen those garages full of the things? Often these people have a budget of £25,000... they don't want an old Japanese sportscar, they want a new car for around £25k that's still fun to drive but reliable and fairly practical to boot. Obviously the target audience for cars of this type isn't a Toyota Supra owners club but try to jump outside of your blinkers for a moment and consider that some people might not want an old Toyota with an image problem. Even not being a supra owner i would not buy this car, i said before i used to own a brand new escort finesse when it came out in 1998, cost me 12k and was my first car and big mistake, ok 25k is the price range, for a moment i am not a supra owner, i would either get for that price brand new a Skyline GTR34, BMW Z4 or a Nissan 350Z. toyotasupra1980
oh and guys and ladies lets keep this civil yeah, no calling names and stuff, just what you think about the Focus st and comparison and stuff, lets not start getting personal there is just no point. here how it should be: Focus looks nice, color is horrible, price abit far fetched for a Ford, i like my supra, has better looks smooth lines, better high performance when tuned to the max, attention factor is very high. johnny g
here's how it should be: Focus looks nice, color is not to my taste, price is a bit far fetched for a Ford - in my opinion. I like my Supra, because in my opinion, it has better looks, smooth lines, possibly better performance when tuned to the max, attention factor is very high. benkei
I have to admit, I like the newer more angular shape of the focus. The older ones looked like some kind of bug! I'm still not sure why its FWD though? Maybe it's seen as safer the RWD? As most cars these days are FWD, this is what people will be used to. 4WD would have been another option, but perhaps they wanted to keep the cost down? Or maybe try and promote the new technology for FWD cars handing large amounts of power (RevoKnuckle isn't it?) I wouldn't be prepared to spend that much on one, besides, I love my Jap metal! benkei
Cost. It's cheaper to make it FWD rather than RWD? How so? It can't be a great deal difference?

RiceRocket
I like it, looks mean and chunky to me. But I would never buy one (or any other car in the price range currently being discussed) as I couldn't accept the immediate deprecation upon driving away, so until the lotto win.... chris2o2
And/or cabin and load space? If that car was RWD you'd be picking chavs and horrible green bodywork out of tree's and roundabouts for years .
