I find it really frustrating that with 300BHP, this thing only just makes the 0-60 in under 6 seconds. 20 years ago you could do that with 200BHP. Shows that while technology moves on, the cars are getting seriously more lardy!!

Oh - and it's a Focus; and I hate the Focus:p

Like I said in the last thread about the new RS I'd happily have one over my aged Supra but if I had £25k to spend on a car I'm not sure it would be top of the list.

FWD but probably handles better than 90% of the cars on here.

:yeahthat:

I think it looks pretty turd, but i bet it could trouble a few cars on here.

Of course, if all that matters to you is how the Supra "totally f***ing rulez everything EVAR" in a YAWN inducing straight line drag on a m-way then obviously you'll find it lacking.

Yes thats all that matters to me, also the fact the supra does not look like a chaved up focus with vents helps.

Love the sweeping comment that everyone that enjoys the supras power in a straight line must be a chav and unable to spell or type.

Those who think a Supra (TT) couldn't keep up with one of these on the twisty stuff must drive like big girls.

Cheers,

Brian.

Agreed.

I disagree.....I had my car all over the place trying to keep up with the thing and was pushing mine to the limits of keeping it on the road trying to keep up, stock for stock I would be confident the focus would win everytime. I dare say with new suspension components on the supra and maybe a improved setup over stock I would have keep up. But not on this occasion :(

Maybe worn out suspension on the Supra would cause difficulties but I can honestly say I'd cream one of these or any similar hot hatch down a twisty backroad with the stock suspension and even more so with my new suspension setup.

I've happily kept up with 4WD's down such roads (mostly ST205 GT-Fours) which only really have the better of me in poor weather conditions. That wouldn't be the case with a Focus or other scrabbly hot hatch as in poor weather it'd turn into an understeery nightmare IMO. I think of such cars as like wee Scottish Terrier Dogs trying to turn a corner on a laminate or lino floor - scrabble scrabble scrabble.... lift off oversteer.... scrabble scrabble scrabble! :D

I still think handling of a car is down to 80% of the drivers ability.... to drive.

The fact is knowing where the limit is and how you deal with it when you overstep the limit, Electronics and cleaver diffs make it easier for you but you still need skill to push it and keep it on the back stuff.

Put it this way cleaver electonics, Diffs revised chassis etc is not going to stop you going too fast into a bend is it....

I never called anyone a Chav. If you think I implied it then that says more about you than it does about me, motorway boy.

Probably because the Nissan Skyline is more respected in the same way we respect the Supra than some piece of crap Ford tomato, skyline like the supra looks great, goes like a bat outa hell, and fun to drive.:D:d

Exactly. Myself and two other cars got taken in one move by the previous ST this morning. Reminded me of when I had the Supra.:(

In the end of the day its down to personal taste, allot of people like the Focus, allot of the people don't.

I do like the look no doubt except the colour, i used to have a ford escort finesse when it came out in 1998, and have had a major bad experience with ford cars and the garage, since converting to Jap cars i feel not only safe, but the cars handle do what its designed to do, will never trust a ford car again regardless what technology they use.
