Oh yeah, Ford has even employed a ‘sound symposer’ to work on how the RS sounds both inside and outside the cabin. We’re expecting some serious noise now. Apparently, previous Focus RS owners were approached about the development of the next car and they offered four main priorities: more power, greater stability, durable circuit performance and greater everyday comfort. There’s only five more days until we find out if RS project leader Jost Capito has delivered. toyotasupra1980
25k 400 a year road tax? Gets dusted by a bpu supra costing 6k lol :d:d lol, made that point on the sky review, not many people liked the comment and said that all supra owners are just Michael Knight wannabe's pretending the supra is KITT, i replied thanking him for the compliment. Scoboblio
Still FWD though I assume?
dibbleyuk
I think it looks cool dont think i wouldnt buy one. Not impressed with the perfomance figures really a slightly modded starlet turbo would upset that.
toyotasupra1980
Still FWD though I assume? Yep, 300bhp of oversteer hell at the front, i got one word to sum up everything on this peice of fruit, "TREE".
Pixelfill
Tyres – bespoke Continental 235/35 R19 sounds expensive, The brembo brakes on the old Focus cost a fortune too, so I expect this will cost a fortune to service. I quite like the look of it, but I guess it will be a handful - isn't it FWD? Mike
AndrewOW
Yep, 300bhp of oversteer hell at the front, i got one word to sum up everything on this peice of fruit, "TREE". Turn the traction control off, and then see how good it is!
Thorin
New RenaultSport Megane out soon too which will be gunning for the Focus RS. I also don't get some of the opinions on here. Yes there are lots of modified second hand cars available for less that would beat this... so what?
michael
Like I said in the last thread about the new RS I'd happily have one over my aged Supra but if I had £25k to spend on a car I'm not sure it would be top of the list. FWD but probably handles better than 90% of the cars on here.
TTRickeh
Tis, with 'RevoKnuckle' suspension technology though
toyotasupra1980
Turn the traction control off, and then see how good it is! Yeah lol :d:d i could see it now, aaahhhh into tree, up in the air, into a break wall, couple of roles before parking itself into a lake to cool of the turbo's., driver gets out of car and uses his alarm fob to lock it "BWOOP, BWOOP":d:d
Thorin
Yep, 300bhp of oversteer hell at the front, i got one word to sum up everything on this peice of fruit, "TREE". "Front oversteer" is normally known by a different term.
RedM
I still maintain that, in the sort of traffic conditions that a majority of us spend our time, a car like this or the Megane R will be a much more suitable weapon. Of course, if all that matters to you is how the Supra "totally f***ing rulez everything EVAR" in a YAWN inducing straight line drag on a m-way then obviously you'll find it lacking. I agree, on sharp turn into the country lanes, The problem with cars now, is that it takes drivers instinct and skill and throws it out the window, allowing people to trust the technology only and pushing the car to the limit, thats when things start to go wrong, people seem to think all the computer gismo's and high tec will get them out of trouble. carl0s
"Front oversteer" is normally known by a different term. I like the figures, but would be put off by the FWD thing. It still has to be a £14k RS6 v8 twin turbo for me I'm afraid.
stupra
I like it, I saw it at the O2 arena last year . I'm with Michael though, if I had 25k to spend on a car, it wouldn't be the top of my list either.

Yes Obi-Wan:p, will remember information next time i make a thread about a FWD car before getting seduced by the dark side of the force, had a kabab last night, allot of chillie, so the force is pretty strong at the moment. :d:d
mikeyb10supra
FWD but probably handles better than 90% of the cars on here. Amen to that...I experienced this first hand getting wasted by a focus ST around a set of roundabouts and very short straights. I just couldn't compete, only on the straights Just shows you how technology has moved on especially in these new hot hatches

colsoop
I like that. I expect as this is a new focus they will have ironed out some of the issues that the first one had. It does seem a bit daft to not introduce it as RWD or dare i say 4WD. £25k is a lot of money though.
ozz
A lot of money for a Ford, personnaly I like them but not at that price. It will put another nail in the coffin of the scooby though. If I was spending that kind of money I'd hang on a few months and buy a nearly new 370z.
Dr_Doom
FWD but probably handles better than 90% of the cars on here. Agreed, but i'll look 90% cooler as i drift past sideways
ManwithSupra
The handling will be better than the supra but then the chassis has new design new materials, new electronics etc etc, At the end of the day give both cars to a proper racing driver let him switch off traction control in both cars and then let’s see how well it handles compared to a Supra, it will probably still be better but not by much I reckon. Not only that a FWD car with 300bhp without some sort of control over the power (traction control or a cleaver electronic diff) won’t be enjoyable... I had a 2003 Civic Type R (197bhp) and found it irritating that 1st and 2nd gear were pretty much useless when it came to "faster" driving so much so i went a bought a Supra.... TBH I can’t see having a FWD 300bhp car tamed by electronics and cleaver diff's will be any different, your still either gonna be scrambling for grip and not getting very far on acceleration or be disappointed when the electronics holds back the power. New Ford's = Fail ........bring back the cosworth's (meat and pie engineering)
tDR
Those who think a Supra (TT) couldn't keep up with one of these on the twisty stuff must drive like big girls. Cheers, Brian.
