Holden1989
My little StreetKa has been making some very weird noises lately, It started when we had ice and snow on the road, when i braked (either heavily or subtle, in the right conditions) i would get this weird noise coming from the rear end, Now the snow and ice is gone, if there is mud on the road and i brake (must be something to do with grip) i get this drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise, today it was louder than ever and i also got a shuddering from the back end, now i dont think its my brake pads, as its coming from the rear end and i have drums back there (yes i know, drums, arnt i a loser blah blah blah lol) Driving normally and braking on clean tarmac i dont get anything and i cant really comment on them feeling spongy as its my day to day car and i havnt driven anything else lately to compare Any help would be greatly appreciated, i dont really want to take it to a garage because im a women and they tend to try and rip me off Thanks!! hadyn
Yeah that sounds like ABS related - do you 'feel' it in the pedal when it does this?
Holden1989
Yeah that sounds like ABS related - do you 'feel' it in the pedal when it does this? yeah i can feel it, i didnt think about ABS as my light on the dash doesnt come on when it does it, Iv had the car for a year and its never done it before? how can i check? Thanks
bluecoup
a grass field would be best, but hitting them hard should lock/unlock the fronts first with a possable pulse and banginging though the pedal, the abs light coming on when the abs kicks in does not happen it should only light if there is a problem
Holden1989
so go in a grass field and do what? sorry dont quite understand your post, so what should kick in first, the front or backs? it is becoming a PITA to be honest, when it does it i lose all ability to brake and knowing my luck il proberly skid into someone when it does it (not used to driving with ABS) So there is no problem with it then? because the light doesnt come on? hadyn
So there is no problem with it then? because the light doesnt come on? No problem - when the ABS system engages the ABS light DOES NOT come on. The ABS light will only come on when theres a problem with the system or you have stalled the car after hitting the brakes violently etc etc
