Dnk
right the garage have come back to me saying the following: 'hi, we havent looked properly at the car yet but it looks like youll need a new radiator, ill get you a quote then call you back' there is 2 problems with what he said there: 1. he hasn't even looked yet he is already saying its more than likely the radiator. 2. he is getting me a quote before even fully knowing if thats what needs doing. seems to me there pulling a fast one and trying to replace a crack pipe/hose and give me a radiator charge, surely if it was faulty radiator it would have been spewing out???? Just tell your garage you want it pressure tested and the coolant checked for combustion gasses, quite simple to do and should be the 1st thing to do after fitting new rad cap and thermostat, diving in changing the rad is not the route to go. If they cant do the above or wont take your car somewhere else ! Edited February 19, 2009 by Dnk (see edit history)

You didnt mention it had a hole in it, if thats the case then yes the pressure check and gas contamination check cant be done till thats fixed. New rad is approx £373 inc vat from Toyota
SupraTRD83
i found this, is this ok http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-GS300-TOYOTA-SUPRA-3-0-93-01-NON-TURBO-RADIATOR_W0QQitemZ270305812461QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item270305812461&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 the garage are quoting £180. yes i got the car from a garage 5 weeks ago with 4 weeks warranty just my luck
Dnk
I dont buy anything off ebay so cant comment if that rad is any good or not, at £75 i doubt its as the advert says and is better than the oem rad from Toyota. What are they quoting the £180 for ?
SupraTRD83
Just for the radiator mate £180 is the cheapest they got apparently
Dnk
Just for the radiator mate £180 is the cheapest they got apparently What about getting it re-cored ? If you can get a new core dont forget to get a new rad cap from Toyota, dont fit any aftermaket caps, the oem one is the way to go. Thorin
Either buy a new stock OEM rad, or a tried and tested brand like the Fluidyne. I wouldn't trust anything off ebay.
SupraTRD83
Bit of luck at last, the garage said they might pay a bit towards it even though the radiator isn't covered under warranty, I need to ring them tommorow and see once his boss is in. so im going to get new radiator in and pray they pay some towards it tommorow
