SupraTRD83
drove with it in the red for about 200 yards then luckily was at work. it was white smoke, was making a noise like A hot spa type thing, hard to explain. hoping its not head gasket

TRACIE_LOU
what is it na or tt? usually na's are pretty reliable as far as i was aware,
SupraTRD83
yeah its non turbo auto, heard there one of the most reliable and here we go, in a month of having it had nothing but trouble
JustGav
Check the various water pipes in the engine bay, it is 'fairly' unusual for the NA's to blow head gaskets.
TRACIE_LOU
same as mine.. but mechanically its been great, has it been serviced since you got it? just getting someone to check few bits over would be a good idea:d
SupraTRD83
update: just rung the garage next door to have a look for me, there good and try and do things cheap for me but there slow, took them 4 days to change my clutch and service my pug 306 head gasket might take them a year

Animal
I reckon piles would be more annoying. Not being able to open plastic bags when you've got a queue behind you at the checkout, that's annoying. Radio 1. Yes, there are more annoying things than car trouble. JustGav
will have a look at 10am whoever guesses the problem correctly wins a prize if its head gasket no1 gets nothing Thing is, I've got an NA shed and it did get driven fairly hard on the odd track day and that hasn't blown a HG. Blown a heater matrix but not a HG. let the car cool down and top up the water and then start looking. You could have a hole/rip in a pipe or the radiator has sprung a leak (not that uncommon these days given the age)... I wouldn't be paniccing yourself about an HG JUST yet
