Adam Kindness
All seemed fine..... got away from the garage, gave it a boot full, no 2nd turbo just caries on with the acceleration from the 1st Any ideas.....??? Its going back in tomorrow for a service, so i'll get them to investigate...... thought they would have noticed this on the testdrive tho The exhaust blades and shaft were missing on No1 That was my problem I'll get pics of them tomorrow
Adam Kindness
another thing... The Idle is really slow too
Alex
If you've got hybrids now then you HAVE to have a pair! Can you confirm this?? Sounds like your vac hoses have been wired up incorrectly You idle should be around 6-800 rpm whilst warm.
Adam Kindness
no - i got Justin Foden's old set to use as a stop gap..... There std! It idles just above 500 and isnt the smoothest
Alex
Can yo photo the engine bay? The turbo area...so that we can look at the connections etc. The idle does sound low...was anything done to the intake side of things? Have you hard reset your ECU?? Pull both EFI fuses to do this. Adam Kindness
its going in to get fluids etc changed tomorow anyway..... so i'll get them to have a look..... see if theres any stupid mistakes going on The battery was disconnected, same effect as removing fuses
Ian C
Hmm. Normally when the sequential plumbing goes wrong you get behaviour like no boost or falling boost, rather than just one turbo working all in all. Can you give a detailed description of how the car performs? E.g. Do you still get a transition moment? What boost do you ge across the rev range? Is there a dropoff, even slight? Any different noises? Does the car feel like it loses or gains power at any point? What does the engine rev like from idle? Is there any coloured exhaust smoke - blue, black, white? If you rev the engine up and abruptly let off, does it return smoothly to idle of stutter, drop to very low rpm, stutter, nearly stall, that sort of thing? Any other wierdness, especially intermittent behaviour? Idle speed should be about 680rpm when warm, with no lights, rear demister, or aircon on. It should also be smooth with slight hunting variances now and again. -Ian
Nic
How far have you run the car? If your battery has been disconnected then it will take a few miles for the ECU to re-learn the correct idle settings.
Adam Kindness
its back in the garage already, told them about the probs.... i'll c if they can fix it... they were meant to in the first place!!
Adam Kindness
cars still in the garage they cant work out whats wrong They were trying to tell me thats how it should be!!! I.e turbos both working at the same time..... My response... er, NO! Justin, Chris - is it OK to give them your num so they can have a chat with someone whos knows the cars a bit better? Branners
Would it not be possible that the transition VSV which opens up the manifold to the second turbo isnt working? So all the boost just runs out turbo 1? If you get a slight drop at about 3500rpm then it could be the prespool bit is working but the main bit of transition over to turbo2 isnt working. You really need to watch the boost gauge as it does it. JB
Adam Kindness
thats what i suggested to the owner of the garage... just feels as if the 2nd turbo isnt opening up (i'll get him to take it out tomorrow morning with me in the psgr seat watching the boost) me and him were pottering round for 30mins this eve, but he kept trying to tell me that supra turbos worked in parallel i just wish it was all better

Anyway - the car..... the fixed it..... was a disconnected vacuum hose.... they then fucked it again its back to what it was like before the 'good' turbos were fitted.... i hope to god they havent blown the new ones ona testdrive! tDR
Shouldn't the garage be liable for the turbo(s) they fucked then? Have a nice holiday btw?
Adam Kindness
Aye.... loads of wee tarts to keep me happy They were used turbos.... i dont know where i stand
Need4Speed
Their web site gives me the impression they're a bit out of their depth (I see no Supras, Skylines or NSXs, just a Previa, MX5 and FTO). I suggest you download the section from this site on how the sequential turbo system works and show it to them.
Adam Kindness
i gave them a link to Pete Betts rundown on the sequentials.... Plus i think they phonned Justin, TorqueIC about 6times this afternoon for some help!!!
Ian C
Find out which vacuum hose. I'm trying to get an idea of the symptoms people get when various hoses are disconnected, and yours were symptoms I haven't experienced yet. And no, I'm not going to yank every hose off mine one at a time to find out -Ian
