We had a sweepstake in work. I've picked up £165.

Glad it's all over now tbh. There's sadder cases out there, like 27 year old women who leave kids and family behind with no money, or no security.

That's seriously sh1tty man, stil at least you can have a laugh about it on Monday eh?

I'm with Johnny on this. There are many other cases, even today where it's just as sad, or even more unfortunate, ie no financial gains for those left behind.

Very true but there ain't many that have a sweepstake of when they're gonna die are there?

I'm sure we all know that. ;)

We cannot express our sympathy for other unfortunate people that are totally unknown to us.

My thoughts too, if he lets us know then we can all have a punt and get a few quid ;)

Cancer took my grandad - but if you live your life watching every word and being careful about what you say - then life would be very boring.

You live your life and work with what it gives you whilst maintaining and happy outlook and doing your best.

100% - you can't not say something to someone "just in case".

I agree if you mean its a free country and free speech etc.

But you can't speak your mind on everything, especially controversial and sensitive topics on a public space such as an owners club - especially where people know who you are and can put a face to the name.

Well I would never do such a thing, especially if its against the grain of wood unless I felt so strongly and had reasonable opinionated grounds of argument to back up my stance.

Anyway I'll check back on this thread later, please don't lock it mods - hopefully it will just be an adult debate without childishness.

It's only people's differing views that make it controversial though.

It's a public place - and all I've said is that

- I'm glad the media coverage is over,

- I think there's far sadder cases of 27 year old women leaving kids with no money or security

- I won a sweepstake in work.

She is an icon of all that is bad with the country today - including the press.

Before she was diagnosed, she was effectively persona non grata on the TV, after the issues with Shilpa Shetty.

Satan to Saint ...

Nowt wrong with 99% of what you said if that's how you feel, just what I highlighted was somewhat insensitive in this thread given the mood of the posters at the time, but I am sure you probably already knew that.

I was thinking of 55 lines on Wed and Sat and then as many as possible on the Euro Millions - all lucky dips :)

Ok, here are the permutations.

If you do 55 lines on Wednesday and 55 again on Saturday, that's a total of 110 lines (£110) therefor leaving you £55 for the Euromillions. This would make for 36 euromillion lines, and £1 left over for your bus fare home.

If you mean a total of 55 lines Wednesday & Saturday combined, this would be only £55, therefor leaving you a nice tidy £110 to lavishly furnish your Euromillions fantasy, ie you could play 73 lines on the Friday.

Naturally speaking as your personal advisor, I'd like to take my usual 20% commision. I might even give some to charity, Who knows?

Didnt like the woman, milked her condition for financial gains even though she was worth millions and in my eyes made a mockery of thousands of people who are suffering from cancer!! most of all i feel for her kids who have had to see their mother die in the media!!

sad someone has died but glad its all over as i'm sick of seeing her in tv

couldnt agree more. my grandfather hasnt long finished another course of chemo and radio therapy for prostate cancer. i had the job of bringing him home after one session and the state he was in was heartbreaking. we had to pull over every few minutes for him to be sick and then just wretching because there was nothing else to come up and he genuinley looked like he was in a lot of pain. one of his pet hates is when we are carefull in what we say. he's not one to mince his words and he expects others to be the same no matter how insensitive it may seem regarding his condition.
