stevie_b
The guy that does my central heating/gas boiler is a one-man-band called Stuart Knox, Basingstoke-based. I'd recommend him. Sorry, don't have his number on me.
Supragal
I wonder if Basingstoke people come out as far as me. Maybe I'll just have to take a gamble and yell for it and hope...
supspower
ah bummer i no a few but abit too far. Is your boiler igniting?
Supragal
It was last night definitely, but this morning I don't think it's been on at all. The hot water has been getting colder for sometime though and stuff like if I have just the hot water on, the rads get hot too. Probably my fault for ignoring it so long... Ark
Don't you have a support deal with British Gas or whoever? Only costs a few quid per month and they'll come out to fix stuff like that, and do regular servicing all in the price.
Supragal
Ark - no I was going to look into it but it's one of those things that is waaaaaaaaaay down my massive to do list, and now, of course, has bitten me on the arse. I wonder if I can take it out and use it straight away...
Ark
You'll never know if you don't phone up and ask. We overheated and tripped out our boiler couple of months ago - they came out and fixed it for free the next day. Well, I say "fixed" but the guy listened to our story and pressed a hidden button on the back of the boiler. Bosh, job done
Supragal
Right, phoned. British Gas were terrible, so expensive and rude and very unhelpful! Someone here recommended Homeserve so called them too and they are half the price pretty much but needed to know specific model of boiler so I'll have a look tonight. I think it's a case of me taking out the policy thing, toughing it out for a week then calling them out and pretending it just happened...

Chris and Alana
British Gas do a fixed price repair for £165 on a boiler, normally the customer comes out better. Did you find out what boiler it is?
Snooze
Mate... you have NO idea, last week was like a joke!!! If it's any consolation, you're not the only one - having a nightmare month here too! Two kitchen appliances broken last week (finally got new fridge installed today - thankfully a bucket of snow was actually a pretty good stand-in), now just discovered that there's a leak in the exterior mains pipe somewhere. February sucks the big one

Bosh, job done Score, this post *may* have saved me a pretty penny. I found a secret button, pressed it and it seems to have come back to life... however there is still a red light so I best look in the manual to find out what that means!!
