Nice, you think this is worthy of being made into a kit if it's successfull?

early days yet fella, i certainly would not have time to make any of this up, but could supply all my CAD drawings/info etc, as i think i have mentioned my "aluminium whittling" is the fun easy bit whats going to make this fly is the guy sat with the laptop plumbed into the ecu :eyebrows:

Good stuff Paul - keep up the good work. Like Darryl said - it's nice to see people trying new things.

Any chance you could email me a few decent pics of the inside of the cast manifold? (I want some baseline pics to compare mne to)

no probs Dan, mines still virginal

well got the bad boy on today for a test fit and really forgot what a royal PITA it is taking all the intake side off. Nothing to drastic to concern me with the fit, crapped out with both the knock sensors being in the way a bit, the first obstructing the fuel return off the rail and the second smack in the middle of one of the fuel rail brackets, i will also need to do something with the power steering bracket as it fouls the throttle body vacuum manifold, the tight area is the rear bulkhead and the brake pipes which i will have to move:(, i will also have to extend some of the wiring, on the plus side there is plenty of room for the plenum and i think i could probably get away with a conventional shaped plenum but i really want to try a dual chamber one

Nice work mate but i have to ask the question why bother when the stock setup or larger Q45 setup work so well?

i enjoy thinking a bit outside the box and also enjoy the challenge, granted the stock setup works fine but whos to say how well this setup will work, if it works no better than stock well at least its kept me out of the wifes way and kept me amused and tbh for not a huge outlay either :D

Hey Paul, How's this coming along?

bogged down again :( waiting for some more machining doing on the plenum intake bellmouth to body adaptors, i have to get these done before i make the plenum as they need to line up smack on, once i have these i can start on the plenum which is what i enjoy best, beating aluminium sheet into shape :D

Would it not be easier to use a FRP for this or should i take it you find the hammering theraputic :innocent:

i would have loved to have done it with carbon/FRP and did consider this but i have seen things go kablamo at 1 bar pressure let alone 1.6 + that i plan on running and with the volume of air in the system there would be a lot of stored energy, i could easily do a pressure test at work but i just think there are to many variables that i cant replicate like the heat and the hydrocarbon exposure so i'm going for good old fashioned ally, and yes i do find it theraputic and used to do quite a bit of "tin bashing" in a former life :D, as for the design the pic is what i am aiming at and i have a home made flow rig under construction to make sure i get the flows balanced

very keen to see what happens here. looking to build something similar myself.

Bogged down again waiting for machining work and TBH the TB project will continue once i have the machining done but it may get put on hold temporarily, as i have seriously had my head turned by an idea Mig had on another thread of fitting a 6 speed Getrag semi-auto BMW M3 SMG gearbox to the Supra, i am currently looking at the feasability of getting an aftermarket ecu talking to the SMG ecu's, and as a result of this i will have to use the BMW fly by wire throttle so there is no point wasting time on a cable operated throttle linkage if i have to go down this route.

Before anyone pops up with "why not just buy an M3" thats the easy way out :p, anyhoo couple of pics of the very nice bellmouths i found on ebay machined to the correct length and in what will be their position in the intake plenum, these will be welded to a stub pipe around 20mm long, hopefully machined next week :D
