AndyT
It is a good track isn't it? I'm looking forward to seeing the £100 mill. revamp results. Cheers Ed.

SteveR
That doesn't look as good as I'd thought it would be. Hmm. I'm still not sure they'll get it done in time; have they even got planning permission yet? I should get on a track day there to experience the current layout, ASAP. I'll be at ISTS watching Suprash drift in the BDC... I'll also be going on track for this exact reason. As mentioned above, the drive wasn't the greatest on that vid. It will be a lot faster when the decent drivers have a go. Still an improvement on Silverstone IMHO.
ivan
I wonder how much of the development money went on that sim? And after all that they got the tyres wrong.
AJI
That doesn't look as good as I'd thought it would be. Hmm. Exactly what I thought after watching that little vid. It could do with another hairpin or chicane or something.
SupraStar 3000
Watched it again this morning,... Looks quite short and the track isn't very wide. I guess that means more back markers, quick laps and interesting race strategies. I hope they dont install all those advertising boards everywhere as it looks rubbish. The whole point of Donington is the green hills and views. They're in the process of moving the famous Dunlop Bridge right now.
AlexM
Not exactly a flowing video is it.
TLicense
I think it's going to look more like this:- http://www.ifm.eng.cam.ac.uk/westsite/images/building_site1_800_600.jpg I could be wrong but I think this is a ploy for Bernie to bump Britain off the F1 calendar. FOM get paid $10,000,000 each year from the old school circuits like Silverstone, Magny Cours, Hockenheim etc, but they're getting paid $40,000,000 by the new circuits like Sepang, Sakhir etc. If there are more than 18 races then FOM have to pay the teams compensation to go to the additional races, so it's in FOM's interest to bin off as many of the traditional circuits in favour of the new higher paying ones. If they simply pulled the British Grand Prix there would be uproar, so Bernie has pulled a master stroke by giving the contract to someone who is going to struggle to come up with the goods. That way he can watch the carnage for one or two years, then pull the GP saying what a fiasco it turned out to be and be quids in. Very clever. SupraStar 3000
Hadn't thought of that Good point though and i hope for the sake of British Motor Sport, Donington manage to pull this off and make it a success
AJI
Sounds like a likely outcome. The likes of Bernie and Max 'The Spank' Mosely are running F1 into the ground. They are very much out of date with what the fans are looking for in F1. If the fans loose interest then there is no reason for companies to use F1 as an advertising stage and then F1 will be finished in its traditional role. plus1
It still looks old with the grandstands. Why can't they make it an architectural masterpiece like some of the new asian tracks?
AJI
It still looks old with the grandstands. Why can't they make it an architectural masterpiece like some of the new asian tracks? Well we are talking about Britain here where everything needs to be signed off by 300 'officials in power' and people who live 50 miles away can object to it being an 'eye sore' etc. etc. And where building projects cost 3 to 4 times more expensive than the rest of the world. Pot
And after all that they got the tyres wrong. That's the first thing I thought too!... I'm hoping they manage to pull it all together... We're still waiting to hear if they'll be using the same marshalls as Silverstone though, else I'll be out of a job (Although unpaid)

ivan
The Times are apparently linking Bernie with a possible Donington buyout too. What price do I get on even more F1 conspiracy theories being out by the weekend?
