You are welcome to PM me and I will have a look but please bare in mind that you can never compare one quote to another.. there are so many variables with insurance, almost every question you get asked at the quote stage can have an effect on the price. Age, postcode, driving experience, occupation etc etc.

Hi,

none of the companies who operate under the parameters of our car club scheme will insure anyone with a criminal conviction.. our hands are tied on this unfortunately.

Well, according to our records.. you stated you had got £385 as your 'best' rate. On that basis we said that we couldn't compete with that rate. If you had of stated your correct rate then we would probably have been able to beat it!

I don't know why insurers ask that question... well, I do, to gauge how much commission they need to give away... but you must know that *everyone* lies when you ask it?

Why would he say his best quote came in at a grand if you're sat in front of a quote (fully loaded with commission) at £500? you're not going to give him a discount then are you?

Please don't pretend it has any meaning to the quote you generate - some people on this board actually know how underwriting works you know ;)

Hi Mike,

Seeing as you are so 'in the know' I dont feel it is necessary to answer your post.

I will however state that not everyone lies about their target rate.. and as above, if a rate is too low/made up we will not entertain a quote :Pling:

Fair enough.

Thanks for the attitude - why are Sky our club insurer again?

exactly so everyone with a non motoring conviction is not insured !!

There are a few specialised insurer schemes that will quote you, but most of the 'big' brands won't.

If you have a look at GoCompare/MoneySupermarket/Confused you'll see a very reduced panel of insurers that will entertain the risk - most of the time they would treat it as a referral.

I have no idea why, but I guess because they can't get the specifics of the case in a handy on-line form - they would want you to call in... and presumably because of this approach I would suggest you're probably in the minority.

Sorry mate - just replying what I know.

No attitude Mike, just responding in a like for like fashion.

We are the club insurer for a few reasons.. the main reason being is that for the vast majority we are THE most competitive, we know the Mkiv Supra inside and out and we offer a very good service.

I've noticed this guy's attitude a lot on other threads. For someone who is supposed to be representing a company you would expect the most professional manner at all times but it seems that this Ollie guy has a short fuse.

There is no way I’d entertain a policy from Sky when they can't act in a professional manner on the forum. If I was sky I’d be looking at using a professional on the forums as customer service and respect is essential in sales. Customers always right and that.. :)

Hi Matt,

In the car club forum world, if you dont stand up for yourself (or in this case the company) you'll (we'll) be walked all over.

If you have concerns about the way I handle forum feedback etc then please address your queries to my manager Jae Pearse, the Schemes Manager for Sky Insurance.

Best regards

Ollie

Another one of these wahh ive been quoted x£ by sky when my brothers cousins half sisters twice removed paid 50p.

They quoted you high you didn't like the quote, simply go to another company. I was happy with the quote i got from Sky compared to others but didn't feel the need to complain at other companies prices.

Insurance is a very personal thing so even peeps from the same postcode and age can have differing quotes.

Sky - you have a pm on an unrelated matter :)

Please PM me your name and phone number and someone will phone you back asap. We phone every call back request without fail. Unfortunately for 60% of these we cannot get hold of the customer.

You said that to me months ago, I PM'd you and you personally never got back to me. Went with someone else in the end.

Well, according to our records.. you stated you had got £385 as your 'best' rate.

Should you be mentioning things that that in open forums? Data Protection and all that?

Very true, lets face it, Sky could be supplying 95% of the forum with their insurance but it'as always the other 5% shouting the odds

For what it's worth, always had good friendly service from Sky and yes and will continue to use them in the future where they can offer a competitive quote for my car :)
