AndrewOW
Kiss of death, probably. I remember buying a nice sledge in the late 80s, but it rotted away years ago, and well before I would've had the chance to use it now!
michael
I had a great sledge when I was a small chap, a bit like the one below but more 80's in it's styling, red and with a light on the front, I wrote it off when I took it over a sweet jump one winter http://www.npkproducts.com/projects/export/hamax-sportkids/sportskids_1.jpg
Charlotte
My sister and I had a really old wooden one, that I think was my dads. It was really cool.

Maybe you can save it for your kids, if you ever decide to have any that is! And what more incentive do you need than being able to see the joy on their faces just before they crash head long into a nasty bramble at the bottom of the hill?! stevie_b
My sister and I had a really old wooden one, that I think was my dads. It was really cool. Same here. Traditional wooden shape, with metal runners. Very strong and quite heavy: if there was ever a collision on the slopes between that and a plastic one, there was only going to be one winner! Branners
I went out and bought a second sledge this weekend on the basis that more snow will come. My dad once told me that the snow that east coast america gets usually arrives with us 2 weeks later. So thats something to look forward. jon5698
I hope it comes back, i bought a snowboard but because of the snow it only got delivered 2 weeks ago lol
Chewie
Those placky tray sledges are next to useless. Too much contact surface slowing you down. You can't beat the old traditional design. I fitted mine out with polypropylene curtain rails and it went like a luge down the cresta run. Kids on the plastic trays were wondering if I had a jet pack fitted. LOL! caseys
13 inches of snow 2 days ago where I am... max temp hit 5F today No sledge with me though. AT home in the shed I have a nice one that's about 25 years old built out of oak boards and metal runners. Need to pull it out the shed and sand it down and give it a good hammerite and oil. I remember sledging down Queen's Park golf course. One of the holes is on a hill. Bunker covered in snow + sledge = human torpedo.
