far
I was thinking commericially speaking how much this website would be worth given the number of members, user profiles we have and the advertising platform this website lends itself to Millions? Thousands? Not a lot?
michael
http://www.stimator.com/ suggests $33,850 although I suspect it's worth more as an advertising platform, that site doesn't take membership numbers into account. My site is worth $9,522 today, anyone want to buy?

far
Well I don't think he started the site as an investment opportunity, as he should've sold it years ago! And most people dont buy their car as an investment oppurtunity but are still interested in what its worth

Homer
With the potential revenue (and profit) the forum could make if it went to comercial hands makes it worth a fair bit more than £22k. Lets hope JB doesn't see this thread!
JamieP
JB ill give you 10 grand for the forum:)
SupraStar 3000
oh great! I can just imagine what the forum would be like under the ownership of Jamie. We'd have a section for "donuts", "burnouts", "youtube vids", "drag racings" and "getting the most out of your diff"
gordy07
Or how to break a diff!
Branners
JB ill give you 10 grand for the forum:) hmm, what would you do with a used, slightly grubby forum...? It's always in my mind that the forum could be a gold mine if we decided to go that way. We charge very little for advertising etc and the 3 x £10 for lifetime membership doesnt bring in the cash either. But it's about more than the money, its generally a lot of fun being part of such a large club. So unless its an offer over £50,000 I dont think I can entertain it
Pot
It's always in my mind that the forum could be a gold mine if we decided to go that way. I certainly agree, I ran a modest 'Cruiser' site a few years ago, and even before I hit the 'Big Time' (A 300-400 car weekly meet ) I was able to have my old Calibra fully kitted for free - But it's not all about that, I made the mistake of enjoying the freebies, and didn't offer enough to the members... I also had a single point of dependancy/control that was open to one and all, the problem with having a local site, in my mind the way the Mods and so on keep their decisions private is a good thing, and yes I've strayed from the OP's question, I'm not fussed how much it's worth, I'm sure that the info on here, and the items for sale have saved the members much much more
JamieP
Worth a try:d TBH if i bought it id not change a thing as long as costs was covered for the odd event, id not even want to be a mod.

Charlotte
Would every thread start with 'Jamie P's.....'?
RedM
Jamie would sell the forum after a year then have to buy another Supra forum and spend a fortune making it as good as this one.
