terribleturner
Just trying to "back up" a couple of dvd's and it gets to about 23-27% of the analyses and i get this message... "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file Q:\ Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." Any ideas??
jonshaw_uk
use dvd decrypter to rip the dvd from the disc to the hard drive - it can remove enryption which may be the cuase of the errors u get, and also you change the region of the film using it. Then use dvd2one to shrink it back to 4.3gb and then use nero to burn it to DVD. slightly long winded but always works for me without any problems
Pete
Q: drive. HAve you got a mapped drive? If you go to My Computer do you actually have a Q drive? Is this your DVD drive? If so, it maybe that it simply cannot read this disc? Does it do it to all discs? Can you rip the disc to the harddrive and convert from that? Try using Flask MPEG to pull the data off the disc first.
Pete
Ah - or use dvd Decrypter like the man says! (easier than Flask)
SteveL
I get this with some DVD's, it's basically the drive not being able to read a track off the DVD. I usually use something like DVD Decrypter to copy the entire DVD to harddisk, then shrink that. Don't quite know why DVD Decrypter can read the tracks and DVD Shrink can't! If you can't find a link to it on the web, I'll try and get details later tonight.

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file Q:\ Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." Any ideas?? I only use shrink, and have only come across this once, it turned out to be a bad disc it could not read it, i opened the disc up normally on the player and at that exact point a shitload of pixels flew across the screen. nick

terribleturner
Just went with DVD Decrypter as suggested by SteveL and worked a treat. Highly recommended
oxygene
I usually use DVD X Copy and it does it all in one. Never had a problem with it!
