Bolney!

worth pointing out that its not being organised by the same bloke who did all the other events, he didnt even know it was happening. Should still be a good laugh though, and perhaps a trip down to Brighton afterwards..

looks like the guy who organised the others is doing this one now. Bolney Stage had penciled in the 24th April for no obvious reason and without talking to the guy who organised the other meets. Its now been agreed it will be Saturday 23rd April. Free-for-all on the carpark, no special cars in there this year. Convoy from Mimms as usual, and it will be going past Lakeside and Clacky services on the way round.

Hi all,

DAZ just posted this on JapUKmeets:

I phoned Sussex Police this evening - to notify them of the meet. I explained what the meet was (and the fact that we've done this for a few years now), and, because of the idiots that spoilt things last year, I've asked if they can have officers driving through regularly throughout the day. She made a note of the event and also of my request ... and informed me that all officers working that day will be informed of the event, etc.

If there is ANYONE who tries to give a demonstration of what there car is capable of ... or attempts a fly-by, they will be asked to stop .... if they continue making an @rse of themselves, then they will be asked to leave. I am not having one or two idiots ruining this meet and risking the future of the event just because they are trying to show off. I appreciate that 99.9% of people that attend are sensible - but I want to ensure we don't get those mindless few spoiling things. Hopefully the regular police visits will deter any idiots. If for some reason the police are not able to drive through as often as hoped - and we get a few idiots doing fly-bys, I will have no hesitation in contacting Sussex Police and asking them to send a car down - this was as recommended by Sussex Police.

I hope that doesn't sound too harsh, but as this meet has become so popular, and there are so many people walking up and down the road looking at the cars, taking photo's, etc, I feel it's the best thing to do - especially as there are likely to be children there.

On a more relaxed note .... IT'S ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY !!!!! I look forward to seeing you all on the 23rd April .... let's hope it's the best yet !

cheers Lex

Hi all,

the south mimms convoy will be leaving @ 9am sharp to get to bolney @ for 10am

as Daz has hinted the main carpark will be taken up by some of these cars

http://www.gtbattle.com/competitors.asp

and other "friends of GT battle"

We will also have a stand where people will be able to register for the event

we have also been looking into to making a charitable donation to a good local cause and the people of bolney have suggested that some cash for "Bolney under 5s" would be appreciated

so we will be looking to get @ least a £1 donation from each car - as many of you know we almost lost the venue coz of a few muppets last yr - so we really need to do all we can to make them think that JapCar geeks are not all bad

cheers Lex

yup we were thinking of having a Bolney JapUKmeets crew member @ each end of the village who would give each car @ GT battle flyer to be displayed on the dash in exchange for a bit of cash for charidee

cheers Lex

Are many going this weekend ?

I see the departure time of 9am is for the South Mimms drive round :)

WATCH OUT FOR UNDERCOVER COP CARS around the m25 when going to South Mimms, I seen a couple last year at the roadside after they had pulled regular drivers over.

AND on the M23, Sussex police have at least 2 Evo 8's, one dark grey and one silver.

See ya there !

Hi all,

You'll all be very pleased to hear that I had a call from Sam at the Bolney Stage pub today. She told me that the pub will now be closed to just us ... and we therefore have the carpark completely to ourselves (for the GT Battle cars only).

Additionally, she has informed several of the residents in the area - so they all know that we're coming. Additionally, she also contacted Burgess Hill police and told them we were coming - and they will also be driving through regularly.

She also let me know that she's been looking on a few car forums to see how much interest there was for herself ... which is good to see.

I also bought the Mid Sussex Times today, and there is a small piece in there about the meet on Saturday. I'll try and scan it and get it online later

See you on Saturday !

I had a lady from Mid Sussex County Council Environments phone me today .... I don't know if they've had a complaint already or not, but she asked me all about the meet. She wanted to know that once parked up, there isn't going to be too much moving around (certainly no speeding), and that people would not be "revving their engines and making a noise".

She is intending on turning up at some point tomorrow. I've no idea who she is or what she looks like, but she will be there.

She will be checking to ensure that we are not making too much noise and not being a nuisance.

Also, when I spoke to Sam (the manager of the pub) yesterday, she said that they have a contigency plan in-case it rains (I think to allow everyone to fit inside the pub or under some kind of cover). This meet WILL go ahead if it's wet .... just bring a brolly !

Cheers,

Daz
