Hello Supra drivers!

Firstly I'll start by saying that I'm pleased to be here and hopefully I'll find some brilliant information about the Supra. I myself am a Toyota driver driving the 2 seater baby version of your cars. The MR2 Tubby. My friend also has a TT Supra with a full veilside bodykit too :eyebrows: I am currently browsing the market for decent versions of the RZ.

Anyhow at JAE '04 I came along with the Civic Type R drivers and had a great laugh and being right next to the supras I said hello to them too but I am not one to niggle and probably will get a bad name around here now but It has come to my attention that I came across a Supra driver driving like a complete Idiot!

It was this saturday night based in kettering, northants. I had just come out the odeon cinema and noticed a black supra sitting in the car park. Definately an L reg'd motor with 21 followed iirc. I thought nice looking car but why the stickers down the side in silver? (looked like chav stickers from max power)

Anyhow, I adore fast cars esp Jap cars but was furious to find someone with a motor as powerful as this to drive like an absolute idiot!

My girlfriend just being a normal everyday driver was chugging along in her car at a pace of approx 45 in a 40 twin lane dual carriageway, parallel to another driver at the same speed. The supra driver at the time of about

11:30 pm decided to flash his/her lights numerous amounts whilst they were positioned in the left hand lane. Thinking something was wrong I looked back and noticed that the car behind was going at an incredible pace only to see it then tailgate my gf's car and then quickly dart out into the slow lane. At this point I was thinking what the hell is this driver thinking?

#1 he/she (supra driver) has originally been position in the left hand lane

#2 then moved behind my gf's car (tailgating) right hand lane

#3 move back into the left lane lane

#4 dart across the front of my gf's car in right lane

#5 gf braking hard

#6 cutting into left hand lane again where the left hand lane driver braking

hard

#6 supra driver boosting it off in left lane

I would not usually write bad comments about other drivers but it being a supra and what seemed to be a modded car (didn't hear any wastegates) you would think that that stupid, inconsiderate driver would have more sence to drive a car with that capibilty!!!!

Ok I understand these cars are built to be driven fast and some of us do speed, some on the public highway or on a private track :eyebrows: but putting the lives of other road users in danger is incredibly stupid.

I'm sorry for this rant, but I feel that I had to tell the forum as It is a place wher like minded people hang out.

I hope I haven't offended anyone but please feel free to write any comments back. I can't answer everyone but I am currently broswing for a supra and hope to make more friends in the japanese car enthuasit's (spelling). lol

take it easy and speak soon!

:D :thanks:

P.S. This is a genuine message and I am no troll either.

Was it because your girlfriend was hogging the fast lane maybe?

Or was the Supra driver just expecting the normal flow of traffic to just vanish..without giving anyone a chance to normally move, if so then the Supra driver is a twat

I drive a Green one btw so not guilty!

But I have to say that it really annoys me when I see people hogging the fast lane on a motorway whilst the other two lanes are free of traffic...is it laziness? Ignorance? arrogance? or just careless driving?

Lane discipline on the continent seems to be far better...I never get offended abroad or here...when someone flashes or indicates to get passed its userly means they want to pass you safely...rather than on the inside...my best advice in future is to move over...I think thats the safest option for both!

The slamming on of the brakes was prob because he was annoyed at your lane discipline I have seen it a lot...its not a trait of Supra drivers...but of anyone who lets 'Lane Hoggers' get under their skin!

I drive defensively and dont let things like this get to me...or I userly pass on the inside smile across and 'wave' sarcastically to the people having a Picnic in the Fast Lane...

I find the biggest culprits of Fast lane Hogging seem to be BMW's and Mercs, what really makes me laugh is the way that when for some reason they do demote themselves to the middle lane...they only feel they need to flick the indicator once.....why? surely if they are travelling at such interstella speed they need to give more warning!!!!

If I have misunderstood your thread or situation then I do apologise....I posted at 4am so prob not making sence !!

...and yeah it does go to some peoples heads owning a fast car...I always slow down and dont expect people to just move out of my way like they do in France or Spain...coz it aint the polite British thing to do here he he!

Welcome to MkivSupra.net btw!

My little car can fly so I know what power this calibre of car is. But the supra honestly came from nowhere.

She definately isn't a middle lane hogger and besides it was a dual carriageway at a limit of 40 at approx 11:30 at night.

thanks for the welcome btw

but...

My girlfriend just being a normal everyday driver was chugging along in her car at a pace of approx 45 in a 40 twin lane dual carriageway

Although slightly faster than the limit I don't think she wasn't in the wrong when the car came behind her but hey i could be wrong? :D

I'm sorry but your girlfriend was in the right hand lane. There was no need to for her to be in the right hand lane.

Why was she not in the left hand lane??????? :complain:

I too get extremely annoyed at people who hog lanes, if I had been driving up that bit of road as well, I too would have done a similar thing....perhaps I would have undertaken her instead who knows.........for the record I don't yet have a supra.

But imho your girlfriend hogging the right hand lane is as careless as driver as the supra owner who undertook, tailgated and all that malarky (if not more so)

Consider this for instance, would the supra driver needed to have done all that if your gf was in the correct lane to begin with..............(regardless of time or speed).............the answer is no...........your gf was the cause of the situation. :(

Hi and welcome. :)

Sounds like your girlfriend was driving perfectly okay, from what you've said she doesn't appear to be hogging the outside lane.

It's along time since I've read as much verbal diarrhea as this , how can you say that his girlfriend was as careless as the Supra driver - you need your bloody head examined.

It sounds like the Supra driver was driving like a complete maniac with no consideration for other road users and there would never be any excuses for the way he drove.

.........for the record I don't yet have a supra. :(

God help other motorists if you ever did get one!

How can you say that? So you're bascially saying it's acceptable to sit in the outside lane or in the middle lane or whatever??? She was driving paralel to another driver, why could she not speed up a little or slow down a bit, so she could move into the left hand lane - she obviously was in no hurry

That is what my problem is and it's my opinion.

Had she been in the left hand lane the supra driver would not have endangered other motorists. She was the cause of the supra drivers road rage no one else.

Agreed ,you say she was parallel with the car on the inside going the same speed , so why couldnt she drive behid the car in the left lane or is she some kind of 'speed moniter' !!!! just because the limit is 40 doesnt give the right to block the road , i dare say if the supra driver came on here youd get a different side to the story so id stop letting it bug you and get yourself a sup asap ;) .

Oh and welcome to the BBS :D

Hogging the outside lane is just ignorant, nothing else, it doesn't give the Supra driver license to drive like a bloody idiot. :thanks:

I don't like drivers hogging the outside lane just like everyone else, I agree that they should move out of the way.

Buy you're not hogging the outside lane if knowone wants past, from what I've read the Supra driver came up behind very quickly with his lights flashing demanding to get past and his girlfriend was taken by surprise.

It sounds like this lads girlfriend was driving very sensibly, doing 45 in a 40 is just the right speed.

Everything the Supra driver did from what we know was totally wrong.

Anyone who drives a fast car like a Supra should realise that other motorists can get caught out by their speed, the roads are for all of us!

I do agree with that. I really do: sly:

I do appreciate that the drivers’ explosion of road rage is not a good thing. But saying that I still maintain that if she was driving correctly, in the left hand lane, then the supra would not have reacted in such a way, because he or she wouldn’t have needed to.

It is ignorance as much as carelessness that causes road accidents. If a person thinks it's acceptable to block a road by hogging a lane - out of ignorance (IE no consideration for other road users) - then who knows what other Highway Code rules they are also “ignorant” too, such as lane discipline on roundabouts, indicating, safe stopping distances and even hazard awareness. Especially when left hand lane rule is very simple

But maybe I am being a little harsh on Dappastyle’s girlfriend driving style, but it really p*sses me off, and like Dude says, you will probably get another story from the Supra driver if they came onto this board, and I truly don’t mean to offend anyone, but it is my opinion and the bottom line is that she really did not need to be in the right hand lane to begin with.

lol, what a way to make an entrance! lol

I can see where you lot are where you lot are coming from but all I say is that you obviously going to be biast towards your preferred motor as this was the reaction I was expecting to get.

At the end of the day it's just one experience that I've had, doesn't mean supra drivers are tits, does it so like I said in my first post. I hope I don't offend anyone.

Hogging the outside lane is just ignorant, nothing else, it doesn't give the Supra driver license to drive like a bloody idiot. :thanks:

thing is nobody can really judge the experince unless they actually sat in the car with me. lol

I'm really glad though that there are two sides being explained. Like I said my self I drive a fast car (not as fast as the TT) but I still have lane discipline, I kid you not. If he/she overtook in a good manner the case would of been different and I think this thread would not of exisited.

BTW it did niggle me a little as my gf was a little shaken but she's ok so no harm done. I also posted here as they might of been part of this forum too.

Anyhow, hope you've had a good easter!

I drive a black L reg Supra and while it wasn't me this time (I don't take the Supra down south) I would have probably reacted in a similar (although slightly more polite and less dangerous) way if I came across an idiot sat out in lane 2 driving alongside another car in a rolling roadblock move. These drivers are worse than your average lane hog because they remove the undertaking possibility - wagon drivers are usually the worst for doing this or overtaking 1mph faster the the other vehicle but a car has no excuse, was she trying to overtake the other car or just sit next to it?

Your story suggests that the car in the inside lane was actually moving faster than your girlfriend as the Supra undertook you, pulled in front of you and then pulled back in infront of the car in the inside lane, again why was your girlfriend in lane 2?

In summary the Supra driver was a little OTT but at the same time your other half was being a PITA to other road users.

But you are still hogging the outside lane if there is no need to be in it, regardless of whether or not anyone wants to pass.

Otherwise point taken. In fact the other day I was pulling away from the traffic lights, in the right hand lane, please note that I was actually overtaking, not just sitting in the lane parallel to another car, and a ferrari came up really fast behind me, and I moved out of the way as quickly as I could, and it was quite intimidating and he didn't even need to flash his lights. He also kept a safe distance behind me.....unlike the supra driver

What's sensible about sitting in the 2nd lane while a car in lane 1 goes slightly faster than you?

Why is breaking the law by 5mph "just the right speed"

I'm confused by your remarks

I have a L reg Black Supra with silver stickers down the side.

I live just outside Kettering.

I was parked in the Odeon car park on FRIDAY night. But I was home by 10pm.

But I did'nt do any of the things listed. In fact on Saturday I was at home all evening.

Now unless somebody stole my car, took it to the Cinema, returned it and parked back where it was before ,behind my other car then I don't think it was mine.

Some things in his thread concern me. 40mph dual carriageway in Kettering. Where?

If it is 40, he admits to his GF doing 45mph over 10% faster than the limit.

Also for the time that this took to happen I would know for definite the number plate.

I don't condone this type of driving and if anybody did this to my wife, daughter or myself and I considered it to be as dangerous as the original poster did, then I would make sure I got the number.

Sounds like very pathetic behaviour by the Supra driver to me. The girl was doing 45mph on a 40mph dual carriageway. At these sort of speeds it doesn't matter which lane she is in. Even if she was in the inside lane, anyone wanting to overtake would have to be going faster than her 45mph, ie. speeding in a 40mph area.

noticed that the car behind was going at an incredible pace

It would seem that the Supra was going considerably faster than both the girlfriend, who was doing 45mph and therefore also the 40mph speed limit.

I speed with the best of them, but there is a time and a place...

Strange first post. What's you're motivation for posting this one sided story on a Supra forum?

There's an easy way to make sure you don't get undertaken: Drive in the correct bloody lane!

Folks who drive in the wrong lane are in no position to be criticizing the driving of the people who undertake them.

I don't understand this thread - yesterday I saw some crap driving by an Audi TT driver, but it didn't occur to me to go find a TT forum and post on there about it.

What's the actual point being made here? What response did you expect? You saw some crap driving - yes, I see it every day. You've made a special point of coming into a Supra forum to post about a crap Supra driver. That either means you wanted to speak to the actual driver and have a slanging match or tarnish us all with the same brush.

Forget this crap, go buy your Supra, come back here with some photos and then post a thread saying 'Hi, I've joined the club'. You're guaranteed a good response. This was a very odd (possibly unique) way to introduce yourself to us.
