JamesC
My dads GS300 (same brakes as jap Supra) has got a pulsating kind of feeling when braking. We thought it would be simply the front discs warped so put new front discs and pads on today. Unfortunately it is still happening . What could this be? Rear discs? You don't get any wobbling through the steering wheel, just a kind of un-eveness in the braking.
Swampy442
Its the next logical step. Make sure the rear calipers aint siezed and touching the disc slightly, introducing a bit of heat. I think theyre the same as Soarer brakes and Ive had issues with siezed rear calipers before
bigbloodyturbo
check for crap on the hub face, crap on them can cause problems that feel like warped dics.

I dont think it's a siezed caliper on the front as they were spinning freely when we jacked it up, and went back fairly easy. check for crap on the hub face, crap on them can cause problems that feel like warped dics. If it was crap on the hub face would you not feel it all the time?
bigbloodyturbo
If it was crap on the hub face would you not feel it all the time? You might do if the piston wasn't retracting all the way back of the face of the disc but I think most of the time you would only feel it when you brake. The uneven face of the hub makes the disc sit very slightly off which would cause pulsating when the pad is pressed onto the disc as it goes over the high spot again and again, kicking the piston back again which you would feel through the pedal. Just a thought though.
Milton79
this is a common fault on the gs300, its your abs pump thats not working. pumps are over 1k from lexus/toyota. see if you can find a 2nd hand one from ebay or breakers for around £200. i have gone through 6 lexus gs300 and 3 times i have lost abs pump. its very common. and that IS the symptom!!!! john
garethr
The Aristo/GS seems to be very sensitive to "warped discs". We finally eliminated it on my GS by scrupulously cleaning the mounting face (and getting the motor factor to replace the discs under warranty). The ABS definately works as it's cut in on the snow. The Aristo/GS seems to be very sensitive to "warped discs". dangerous brain
Is it the abs pump or the electric pump brake assister. Be better off looking on the lexus or aristo forum for the answer to this question as the braking system is quite different to the supra's even though the J-spec calipers are the same. Milton79
hi have also had the same symptom on the Lexus RX300 range but on them they always seem to be the abs sensor itself. as you can see, i love my lexus
