Swampy442
Does nobody do it any more? Has it been banned or something and I missed the news? The roads just seem full of people who just drift in and out of motorway lanes, plough onto roundabouts and randomly switch lanes. And while Im on one Is there a national stigma with driving in the left hand or 'slow lane' of dual carridgeways? Finally 50mph. Why 50 and not 60? And the same people who do 50 in a 60 will do the same 50 in a 40 or 30 zone. Grrrrrr Rant off. Thanks for listening
adnanshah247
i sometimes forget to indicate but only when the roads are completly empty.

merckx
It's definately getting worse, a total disregard for others on the road which makes me so angry.
QSC
What gets me most is when people insist on clogging up a roundabput that they are unable to get through, so that you can't get past going another way - or stopping in traffic in front of a junction so that you can't make a turn into a street - it's like people are convinced they are alone on the roads nowadays... hogmaw
I'm with you. Too many careless drivers out there living in their little bubble with no concerns for other road users.

It's not that people think they are alone IMO, they just think they are more important than everyone else. Waiting at the edge of the roundabout would mean someone might take up a position in front of them on the road and "push in", that's unacceptable. One of the reasons the 4 way stop junction would never work in the UK.
hogmaw
I think it's because cars nowadays are so comfy that people literally are cut off from their surroundings and as such they don't feel the outside world - and in so doing are cut off from everything in it, other cars included. Rich8v
I've noticed a lack in signaling being used. Roundabouts i can tolerate because i treat them as a hazard, and use them with care. But on a dual carrigeway or Motorway it gets anyoing when people just pull out.
supraspeed
what annoys me not just at rounabouts (but mainly) junctions is when people see i'm coming and pull out and then don't speed up! i mean i dont drive to the speed limits that much (unless in a residential area) so it annoys the crap outta me when people fail to judge my speed and then pull out and expect me to slow down to their pace. also, especially when i was working in southwark, people pull out with their hand facing you like their directing traffic!!?? then wave!! Like i had a choice not to stop. fuckin wankers.

I agree. Very unreasonable for other people to assume that I might be travelling at somewhere around the speed limit. And I hate people who can't precisely estimate my speed, too. Also agreed that people who wave to acknowledge me after they've had the temerity of slowing my galactically important journey up by a few seconds are scum, they're the worst of the lot. B*stards the lot of them.

DodgyRog
When I am in the lorry, if they are not indicating, I take it they are not coming any further around the roundabout and pull out( obviously if there speed allows without them being in risk of hitting me), they then generally get pissed at me to which I give them the gesture that they were not indicating, so how am I supposed to know. If they are the only ones behind me, I then drive dead on the speed limit(if I have the time). On the same note (rant wise) On my way home I have to travel along about 2 miles of dual carriageway (for the locals) between Clyst St Mary and Clyst St George. When you exit the roundabout at the begining of the dual carriage there is a set of traffic lights, which (as they are on the entrance to a government building they favour the exit rather than the dual carriage:blink:) are regularly Red and nearly everyone goes in the outside lane, then proceeds to stay there for the next 2 miles as they are going to Exmouth, which requires the right lane at the roundabout. This annoys the hell out of me nearly every night and I have got in the habit of cruising up the inside, I know I should not, but they just sit in a line, I would like to point out I don't generally fly up the inside. I regularly pass 10+ cars this way, without breaking the 70mph mark :innocent:HONEST GUV:innocent:

supraspeed
i normally have time for lorry drivers, especially on roundabouts as i know how difficult it is pulling off into a gap with a heavy vehicle. hesitentsy is the main thing which drives me mad... except learners
benkei
I don't think BMWs, Mercs or other executive cars have indicators. They're too important for them apparently, and everyone must allow hem right of way and give them plenty of space to do as they please because they are more important than the rest fo us. Re-read what you said and you're actually agreeing with me. It's the comfy safe interior of the car that causes and/or enhances the laziness and ignorance. Well, I do know what you mean, but I see the shoe on the other foot every day. I have to reverse the car out onto a road in the morning and turn right across the traffic at night. I have to be a but assertive, because otherwise I just would never get out. I do show people the palm of my hand and I guess it could look like a stop sign to them. But it's simply that I'm trying to apologise for holding them up and I don't have another way of doing it easily and visibly. The broader point I'm making is that virtually everyone thinks that they are the only reasonable minded and skilled driver on the road and that everyone else is a t*sspot. That's not their 'stop' hand, that's a 'thanks for letting me out, in advance hand', even if you hadn't actually thought of doing so! I do try to indicate wherever I am, but what really gets me is the roundabout thing where the car in front doesn't indicate right all the way round, then indicates left for a split second before the exit and then continues to indicate as they haven't realised the thing's still ticking away! I think this is where the advantage of the auto comes in. I can cruise quite gently around town without getting too annoyed, but then drop down a gear and boot it just to make a point. I don't recommend it though.

You know there are times on a roundabout when you should not be indicating, right? This is from the NI highway code, but I believe ours is the same. What annoys me is when people do not indicate at all, but they then take the next left or the furthest right. Or they leave their indicator on right the whole time, even when they're pulling off. (Saying that most bad driving annoys me, and at roundabouts I ALWAYS give priority to the numptys on the roundabout until I'm sure of what they're doing, as it's the safest thing to do). wrenlea
I indicate as automatically as looking in mirrors and over my shoulder before pulling out etc If you do these things without thinking (as I was taught) you always do them and *hopefully* never cause an accident or upset anyone. If you have to think "is there someone near because if so I ought to signal" this is a complete waste of thinking time.
