lights on dash before starting?

Just unscrew the 5 screws under the cowling and the whole top section come out - 2 minute job

Theres 2 muliti-plugs on the left to disconnect and one one the right....

Presto you are now holding your top cowling, warning light assy. and bulb assy. in your hand

really is a piece of cake to get to for investigation, checking with meters for dry joints or just plain, "wiggling"

Thats a bit harder:

unscrew gear knob

pull up plastic area around gear knob

with top cowling off look left, you will see a cross head screw

unscew this and the entire stereo/heater plastic surround will pull off

do same to rh ignition key side (another screw) no need to pull this part entirely off, can be left loose as access to dials now poss.

pull off plastic dial surrounds over speedo and rev counter

you will now be able to uncrew the speedo and rev assy

carefully pull out (2 multi plugs to disconnect)

you will see the back of rev counter where triangle bulb is fitted

To be pedantic but only so as not to confuse GEEZA :

"pull off plastic dial surrounds over speedo and rev counter" should be done before undoing the left and right hand panels.

"carefully pull out (2 multi plugs to disconnect)" That should be 3 multiplugs

Sorry to be picky Charlie mate.

ahh i have an auto and that auto stick looks like a right pain the arse to remove? or is it????
You don't need to remove the auto shifter. Just put it in D so you can get the plastic surround over it.

BTW, Be careful when removing the plastic gear lever surround, the clips that locate it are easily broken off.

Most Car Manuals have a pic of the instrument panel labelling all the associated dash lights. I am assuming that the Supra Manual has the same information and pic.

Can anyone post a pic of the PRE-FACELIFT supra instrument cluster guide.

  • 4 months later...

As with other members I picked up my Supra and noticed that there were "gaps" where I thought there should be additional warning lights. Having stripped out the upper panel and removed the bulbs / assembly I took some pics to let me know what should be there.

These pictures are from a '93 TT GZ.

Hope they prove useful....
