bodilx6
has anybody any experiences with engine temperature, more precise the inner most cylinders when cruising between 120-180mph in germany in the j-spec? As known it doesn't have the scoop and I've heard stories about the 5th or 6th cylinder overheating. Should I worry if driving quickly through germany once in a while? Also, my oil is topping 130 c, so this might be a "bottle-neck" before actually reaching dangerous engine temps? What are your thoughts/expiriences? The Raven
Not sure you will get anyone here to admit that they cruise on a public road at 120-180mph.

Many of our members have taken their cars to Germany so would have had the chance.

jim_supra
I have done those sort of speeds when in Germany and had no issues, although I was driving at 160 for only a short while, then I lost my nerve and dropped back to 100 odd:D
jimmenico
No overheating issues here either. Depending on where (and at what time) you are going, you might find it difficult to maintain driving at those speeds anyway. From my experience, it has been short bursts of fun, followed by long bursts of traffic Still, if you carry out your basic pre checks (tyres, oil, water and brakes etc.) you shouldn't have any major problems. UK brakes help no end as well
SUPRASUZUKI
There's some info here, mainly trans temp, but I had no (known)issues cruising at 110 / 120 in Europe. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=124503&highlight=ring
bodilx6
Good to know, keep it comming. btw, agreed about keeping the very high speed (140+) maintained for longer periods, but some placed 120+ for long streches has been possible. bignum
Also 130c is about the max you want to get your oil to and thats a top quality oil like silkolene etc, sounds like you could do with an oil cooler, have you got a seperate water temp gauge aswell, that would give you more of an idea of actual engine temperature. bodilx6
no other temp gauge, but the stock water meter doesn't move a millimeter from the postition its always in at operating temp. Oil is top Mobil1 and this issue is only on the long drive to The Ring and I do back off when it gets to 130 @ the oil filter. But I have no way of knowing about the cylinder temps that I worry about. No one seems to really know about these, or?
bignum
My stock water temp always sits in the middle, even if my digital 1 says 80c or 100c.
nige
I took mine right of the clock oil temp sitting at 130 and red warning light came on the guage, only had it there for a couple of miles tho, even sitting at 100 leptons for a few miles the temp tends to sit at 120/130 worse in the warm weather. My experience too. I could keep 120 for a long time without it popping the 130 warning. But with a quick dash to somewhere near top speed, that where I'm worried about the cylinder temp.
