Scoboblio
I'm going to get a portable mp3 player to hook up to my headunit and don't just want to jump in and get the first choice of the market, the iPod. I am tempted though because it looks very cool I've found a load of web sites on this but none of the reviews are particularly impartial - seems like the iRiver is highly rated but has a .5 sec gap between tracks... couldn't put up with that on mix cds Any opinions guys / girls? I'm not worried about huge storage... 20gb should be enough What is the best overall player out there?
garetheves
Ive had a Creative Zen Jokebox for a few years now and been very pleased with it although the battery seems to be on its way out now (as most rechargebles do shortly after Guarantee runs out). Its a 20 Gig storage which isnt really enough now so gonna upgrade to a 40Gig one. Personally i would go for the Ipod, i know a few people who have them and they look class. Mine is quite chunky whereas the ipod are slick and very easy to use. The Iriver is very good although dont know anyone with one so cant really comment on it. Hope this helps. Pete
I just bought one of these today and it's great! 1/2 Price from £300 top of the range Sony HiMD recorder. Just connect up to your PC and drag files/cds etc across. I much prefer this idea to loosing 30gbs all at once.
Scoboblio
Hmmm that looks quite good What type of compression is ATRAC3plus? It's only a 1GB but says it holds 45 cds.
Dash Rendar
I've got an IRiver. I use it down the gym. It's very portable, but only has 256MB of memory. It's solid state, not a hard disk like the IPod. So, if you want 20GB of storage, it's the player for you.

Pete
Hmmm that looks quite good What type of compression is ATRAC3plus? It's only a 1GB but says it holds 45 cds. Not sure but the best compression is at 48kbps or something, it's ok but the next one up is MUCH better. It's proprietry technology to Sony and comes with software by Sonic Foundry to convert your mp3, windows media files, cds etc. Pretty quick to transfer. Nice thing is - you just keep on buying as many MDs as you want!
