A voice of reason?

Summary: One group are rubbish, the other are well ace.

Her one-sided rant managed to engage me for 45 seconds and then I had to move on.

Maybe I missed the important bit but ultimately this has been done on here already, people disagree on it and under the current cotton wool climate it's probably best to avoid anything that might cause a disagreement, even if discussed nicely.

IMO of course, YMMV.

One group of what are rubbish.

If some doesn't summarise the clip soo I'm going to send it to Hell.

I wouldn't want to be seen to be taking sides as it might offend some random person who hasn't posted for years but suddenly feels strongly about something, as a result I'll leave my summary as it is.

Maybe you can watch it later and make your own mind up.

Edit: To hell with it, it's Wafu Sultan, an Arab-American Psychologist on Al-Jazeera TV in Feb '06,

The clash we are witnessing around the world is not a clash of religions, or a clash of civilisations.

It is a clash between two opposites, between two eras. It is a clash between a mentality that belongs in the middle ages and another mentality that belongs to the 21st century...

And so on. To be honest without any context it's hard to know what she's banging on about and her voice irritates me.

This might help:

Right. The start of it says that the current fighting in the middle-east is nothing to do with a clash of religion or politics, it's a clash between 21st century thinking and barbarism (although fighting over a hair cut is even more rediculous than religion, but hey), a clash of human rights.

She outright calls Muslims barbers ball-bearingsbarbarians. I neither know or care what particular faith she follows, but she is quite clearly an ignorant bigot.

Just what we need to keep the forum civil.

She has a very good point. I don't belive she is of any religious view as she states she does not belive in the supernatural, but belives in mankind working together for everyone's benefit. I believe her point was that religion makes wars, and that everyone should be free to belive in whatever they want, with no pressure to belive in what someone else is preaching. She says, "Brother, you can belive in stones, as long as you don't throw them at me." Which I think is a very good way to put it.

Was very enthralled by what she said and made some very accurate points.

Is she still alive, how much is on her head?

Well, here she is again in March 2008.

The two pundits are laughing at her in the studio, however she won't be deterred. She's a very good speaker.

Gentlemen- your opinions on her speeches are..?? :)

I like here btw. She has grace under fire. She's intelligent and speaks sense. And she's pretty brave too.

I can't watch it, my internet is too slow. I'm sure she makes great viewing, but I'm happy with my ethnical/sociological opinions and don't need to be preached at anyway :)
