adnanshah247
Right so heres the low down, bought a car, sold it, new owner, sold it, third owner gets parking ticket and i get wrapped with it. wrote two letters saying its not mine after two letter were sent to me from the these scum bags, phoned them and today i get bailifs letters. Great so i decided to write this letter, please help me and feel free to to advise any changes that see fit Please note names addresses and registrations been changed for obvious reasons. *********************************************** To XXXXX Council From, Mr A Shah xx xxx Road xxxxxx xxxxxxx xxx xxx To whom it may concern, Further my 2 previous letters that have just disappeared in thin air I shall make this situation very very easy for you to understand! Twice I have received letters from you stating that ‘I’ supposedly am the owner of vehicle registration mark:- BBB 999 and that I have to pay a parking ticket, twice I have written to you and twice I have spoken to somebody over the phone stating IT IS NOT MINE! Ridiculous how it may seem today I have received a letter addressed to Mr A Singh (with my address), were as I am Mr A Shah and its from a DELIGHTFUL Bailiffs company that states I ‘supposedly’ owe you the council £107.88 and if I don’t pay up Bailiffs will come calling upon my door. Now I am beyond frustrated with this situation which I guess you might have realized so far. So for the last and final time I am going to explain this all otherwise I shall be seeking legal advise if it isn’t resolved. I purchased the vehicle on the 21/08/2004. I then SOLD the vehicle on the 24/05/2006 to a person named MR X from XX Road, xxchester xxx xxx. Mr X had the vehicle registered in his name and put on a private number plate, the cars original registration was EEE 777. MR X changed the registration to BBB 999. He (MR X) then sold the vehicle on to a friend of mine named Mr Y from xx xxxx Drive, xxxxx, Essex, xxx xxx on the 10/04/2008. At the present moment in time and at the time of the offence the Owner of the vehicle was Mr Y! I have been issued these penalty charges even though the registration has moved 2 owners and the registration plate has been changed. Why you haven’t bothered to check with the DVLA who the actual owner is, is beyond me! I shall enclose with this letter copies of the log books, the transfer from myself to MR X and then the transfer from MR X to Mr Y. I am absolutely disgusted in the way that your organized. If one letter went missing that would be understandable but two is a little weird don’t you think? Then my phone calls? Nobody has a record of them at all either? Excellent customer service I must say! As stated plenty of times I am totally fed up of writing and calling and getting absolutely nowhere. You have wasted plenty of my time and resources. Not only have you troubled me you have troubled Mr X the second owner along the line who as me has nothing at all to do with this issue! PLEASE CAN YOU CONFIRM IN WRITING WITHIN 3 DAYS OF RECEIVING THIS LETTER THAT YOU HAVE INFACT RECEIVED IT AND ARE PROCESSING THE SITUATION!!! ***********************************************

Scoboblio
I'm confused why a council would have a record of who owns the car anyway. When you sold the car, did you get a letter from the DVLA confirming your were no longer the registered keeper?

Scoboblio
That's really strange then. I wouldn't have thought there would be any reason for a council to store keeper details as it'd be out of date the moment they got it anyway. Good luck trying to sort it out, councils really need to get themselves into the 20th century (I know it's the 21st, but that's how far behind they are) when it comes to customer service. colsoop
Recorded delivery with the next letter. And did you not get some sort of confirmation from the DVLA that ownership had changed ?
Mike
Now I am beyond frustrated with this situation which I guess you might have realized so far. Can we take the 'z' out of realised too please... sorry, it's sticking out like a sore thumb to me How frustrating! I think I'd take half a day off work and go down and see them... councils are like 20 years behind the rest of the world! Just try to calm it though bud... deal with it tomorrow. Hope it helps Rob Good point indeed Rob - this could be one of those scams where a debt collector gets his sticky hands on someones personal details and then proceeds to use the details to obtain money against that person. Just watch out mate.

Don't do that!? It least you'll walk away with a resolution and not be sat there for a couple of days waiting for a response... or wondering if they got the letter! erol_h
I know how frustrated you feel i had a two year battle with the d1ckheads that deal with the management of the property i own. They were trying to force me to pay for the last owners bill that owned the property. They didnt have a breakdown of the said bill threatened court action and in the end the bill was paid for by the last owner in the first place i was furious. garethr
Can we take the 'z' out of realised too please......Arguably, "z" is more correct than "s", on the basis that American English uses the spelling which was common 200 years ago, and British English has changed. Anyway, I believe that both are acceptable according to the OED.

Mike_Mac
Arguably, "z" is more correct than "s", on the basis that American English uses the spelling which was common 200 years ago, and British English has changed. I hate to break it to you, but we're not a part of America (yet!). Hard to believe I know! Anyway, I believe that both are acceptable according to the OED. Only because Americans are, like, everywhere and would whine otherwise. To the OP - I agree regarding use of (justified) sarcasm - just put in the basic facts and send it 'recorded signed for' to ensure you can prove they get it. non-emotional language looks far more professional if you ever need to take the matter further. Anyway, I believe that both are acceptable according to the OED. That's correct, but I still prefer -ise. Similar thing with words like colour/color. The -our ending was adopted from French language I believe.
AlanM
Surely this is the DVLA that is giving the council the incorrect information, the council have no records of vehicle ownership
