Anyone else emotionally attached to their cars?

I'm so glad I sold my car to an older owner who had a history of MKIIIs and the like. I knew after over 12 months of ploughing dosh into my car and getting it just right for sale (!!!) it had to go to a decent guy. It's still in pristine condition and runs like a dream. I love hearing about her still. Sadly yours is another case example mate where it strikes a chord too.

This is just personal isn't it?...............solution give a local member the address, they go knock on the door and say i've noticed your car just sitting there for 'x' months blah blah yadda yadda, would you be interested in selling it?

At least then you'd know if she would let it go (if she won't then she really must have plans for it - that or she values the effect it has on you over the financial value to her  )................

Disclaimer "I take no responsibility for how she may react should such a tactic work and you end up with the car and she then finds out you are the new owner"

What a cracking idea,:):) I know of a few people that may be able to pull it off.

Cheers

I had a similar thing with my MR2, had it for years, much cherished etc, next two owners weren't that kind and then the one took it in for some work and his mechanic tracked me down and had a long chat about things that had been done. Unfortunately a lot of the messing was done after I sold.

Saw it again up at Elvington a year after selling, the wheels were battered, it had dark tints and a dump valve but the owner at that time seemed to be looking after it. Was nice to get a few pics of the two cars together, I'd sold the MR2 while I was still searching for a Supra.

Then someone posted up on IMOC to say it was being broken for parts, I think the owner went for a newer MK2 and swapped a lot of the bits over.

I suspect I'll be quite sad if I ever get around to selling the Supra but I guess it depends if you part with something to upgrade or because you need the cash.

my 1st car a mk3 fiesta which was in good condition sold to a friend then he sold it to a friend and it was stolen never heard anything of it then not to pleased. My second car a mk4 fiesta few mods was very clean and in good condition sold it to my cousin who rammed it into a back of a car and got a dodgy repair job which ruined it was very upsetting.

Feel better after reading this thread...thought I was alone. I still really miss by second car; celica st, black and gorgeous. Nothing special in terms of mods and power but it was the first car I searched for and bought and I just loved her. I have so nearly looked her up on the DVLA website a few times now but I'm terrified of hearing she was on the scrap heap. I'd love to find her and buy her back but no justification for another car. I love my supe but there was something special about that celica that the supe doesn't have and I can't put my finger on it.

I'll always remember seeing my first car after it was stolen and torched.

All those hours spent messing around on it, getting everything looking just the way I wanted, only for some ar5e hole to come along and destroy it.

That was heart breaking.

So I guess to a certain extent, most of us are emotionally attached to our cars even if its just based on the time and effort spent.

And CJ/Gamers car.

I was gutted when that got damaged.

Btw: where is Joe these days?

yeah, me too... I still have a mug with it on :(

haven't seen Joe for a while... mind, I disappeared for a good few months at one point, so it must have been during that time?

Blimey, hello!

I'm still attached to my first ever car, a Mk III Chavalier 1.6 Hatchback, in 1995 when my mates had 1.1l and 957cc Mk 1 Fiestas, it was the car of Kings :)

I'd guessed that was the case.

Shame as Joe was a nice guy :(

He was a twat :D

I am still around guys, I just lost the will to carry on with it after Turboshit. She has been sitting in my garage ever since. It would just depress me even more to come here and see you all enjoying yourselves as I would have liked to. ;)

I'll be looking to sell come spring.
