MKIII Supra GA70 Lexus IS200 6MT Gearbox?

I know this would be better on in the MKIII forum, but my account is still awaiting moderation (after joining a week ago!!) so I have no choice but to post it here!

I was wondering if the 6-Speed manual transmission from the first generation Lexus IS200 would fit in my GA70 Supra TT. They share the same engine family (1G-) so I am guessing that the gearbox will mate up to the engine, but what about propshafts, crossmembers etc? Has anyone heard of this being done before, and if so, is it a worthwhile conversion?

Yeah it will deffo mate to the engine ok. I have the frontsection of the IS200 prop shaft here that was cut off when I was modifying my prop for the 2jz conversion. You could use it and get it welded to your standard prop. It will obviously need professionally done and balanced. The IS200 box uses a spline that slides into the gearbox. The factory supra box may well use a 4 bolt flange if it is similar to the v160 found in the mkiv.

The only other things that may need changing are the position of the shifter if it is too far forward or back and the gearbox cross member might need modifyed or a new one made.

I have an old IS200 6 speed box that I can take some general measurements off if you wanna get an idea of fitment. The distance from the bell housing to the shifter and cross member would be a good place to start.
