hogmaw
These kind of things, powered by the waterflow through the hosepipe. I was thinking of getting one to clean my wheels. I am too lazy to use hand-held brushes and elbow grease. Are they any good?
peter richards
no no no no no no no no no will ruin your paintwork , imagine it picking up all sorts of grit , then spreading it all over the car, only one way to clean the alloys properly , non acidic cleaner is a must , and the rest is elbow grease and the right brushes to get to the whole width of the alloy not just the face Edited January 30, 2009 by peter richards (see edit history)

hogmaw
Never said anything about paintwork, I'm not that daft WHEELS only
Todd
I'd spend a good couple of hours cleaning your wheels then slap a few coats of poorboys wheel sealant on them, that way you just need soapy water to clean them going forward, makes it soooo much easier
gaijin
Poorboys is good also Chemical Guys wheel wax.Give them a coat of Colinite wax as extra protection(and the car),especially in this crap weather.
peter richards
Never said anything about paintwork, I'm not that daft WHEELS onlylol i know , just had a good look at your wheels , that brush wouldnt clean bugger all , unless you only wanted half a job sort of thing , good set of brushes for your style are ones by a company called VIKAN, ideal for small gaps like yours , the one i use for the inner part of the wheel is called EZ , but because they are not your average 5 spoke then cleaning them properly will take some time due to the many surfaces they have
hogmaw
Yes the bits between the spokes do need finer brushes and can only be done by hand. The intention of the rotary thing was to save time doing the face of the wheel and also the bits around the rim where the bolts are. It can get very fiddly round there. peter richards
as said above though once youve given them a good seeing to , spend a bit longer and put some protection on there , makes it easier in the future to clean
hogmaw
All the protection products I have found so far say no to either split rims, anodised or aluminium wheels. Mine are all three! Perhaps that Poorboys stuff will be OK? Thanks for your help BTW
peter richards
ive used poorboys stuff in the past it is quite good and vey popular , but these days i use duragloss , its designed for clearcoat , ive had it on my wheels for a while now and performs well , so no need for different products when one can do both the car and the wheels. as long as the wheels are laquered of course
