tbourner
These discussions would be much easier if there was a clear line between 'British' and 'Immigrant'. How is an English speaking Pakistani man who was born in London any less entitled to a job than a white bloke born in London? Or are we just talking about illegal immigrants? Because fair enough they should be chucked out, but most are legally here and who's to say they won't father the future 'British' generations? You can't define a 'British' person, so it's all cock. The thing we need to do is decide what rules should be placed on EVERYONE, and how 'British' those rules should be (whatever that means). supraspeed
so what happens when we let a load of "smart immigrants" in the country? the less educated brits are just thrown aside? companies arn't allowing apprentiships any more because of financial turmoil so all those seeking education into trade don't get it. we should make sure uneducated brits are accounted for as well as educated immigrants. Paul
How is an English speaking Pakistani man who was born in London any less entitled to a job than a white bloke born in London? They're not any less entitled because they are both British???
tbourner
Neither of your two examples are immigrants, illegal or otherwise. They're not any less entitled because they are both British??? Well that was actually my point which you seem to have nicely glossed over. People just see a dark skinned person with an accent and assume they're immigrants and shouldn't be allowed our jobs. the next bit was saying that even the immigrants are entitled because they're future British people in the making, so why are they any different to our ancestors. If they're willing to live here and do a better job than us at a lower rate, then why not employ them. We're just too greedy obviously. Sorry but no mention of that on this thread, nobody has glossed over anything.
