Multics
It seems that all cars 1996 onwards need to undergo the new IVA test I guess rules out modded 1996+ japanese imports. Is this likely to affect modded imports from now on? Furthermore is this going to increase the value of already modded japanese cars that are currently in this country? http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/vehicledealershipsandimporters/isocertificationandtypeapproval/individualvehicleapprovalinspectionmanuals.htm
Carl_S
Let me pray that that is the case with my supra, that it's value will increase. But I fear that will not be so.
Gaz Walker
So we've got till the 29th of April to get all the nice cars over from Japan? Bit of a tall order that is... Gaz.
Thorin
It's going to cause a lot of hassle for the kit car guys too from what I understand, as well as any "heavily modified" cars. I've not read the full details but believe it's based on a points system. Engine swaps would mean you get no points for the engine category, non-standard suspension mean you get no points in that category etc. etc.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
it says vehicle over ten years old does not need iva http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/repository/IVA-Guide-version-30-Dec-tag.pdf
mwilkinson
Sorry have not read the document. Will this be a one of inspection upon manufacture or import, or will this be a yearly check to replace an MOT. I pressume the former of the two. Wez
I am guessing this will be additional to the MOT and will therefore be another stealth tax, why does it not suprise me
SimonB
I am guessing this will be additional to the MOT and will therefore be another stealth tax, why does it not suprise me It's just the replacement for the SVA isn't it? There was a big article in practical performance car about it a couple of months back where they were asking VOSA what consituted a suspension change etc. It sounded like they were going to be quite flexible about it. Hermit
So where does it say 1996? I read the guide document and came to same conclusion as Jurgen - over 10 years old is still ok
