jazz1
i want to paint my engine bay black as it is still silver. Would hammerite do the job if yes which one?
Kranz
No..... would look pants! You need to do a proper job as the paint will be a completely different type to what is on there at the moment. As hammerite is enamel then it will probably chip and fall off if not prepped correctly...... and it'll look awful. Duffman
i want to paint my engine bay black as it is still silver. Would hammerite do the job if yes which one? That really would not look good mate...it's for calipers and alike...NOT for engine bays
colsoop
Jazz i can't believe a guy who always wants to do things right would consider caliper paint for his engine bay. Get some bits stripped off and paint it properly

wile e coyote
You will not be able to repaint over the hamerite at a later date if you change your mind Been there done that long time ago when young and foolish
turbonut
Just to get the paint to key you would have to spend a lot of time and elbow power to de-grease it. Then there's all the masking off....... It would never look as tidy as a respray. Up to you fellah but probably best left well alone. miko_supra
masking tape and spray cans would do a better job that hammerite!

michael
Just make sure you use the hammered finish rather than the smooth, looks much better like that.
