Mike
Just seen My Bloody Valentine 3D in Chichester... the old 3D thing has certainly come a long way. The glasses they give you are sort of 50's Ray Ban-esque, and don't seem to be the usually blue/red thing they used to have. The effect is very clear, but the film over all looked a bit 'yellow' and it seemed to work better on slow moving/still objects - like when guns/pick axes were being brandished in your face. Also the effect was sometimes lost when focus moved from front to back. I suspect a Pixar/Dreamworks film might really demonstrate the capabilities being the absence of having to manage this ('Bolt' anyone?) The initial film stings in all their computer generated glory were incredible... as were the titles, seemingly floating around the room as the film started. The film itself (remake of early eighties, below par Canadian shlocker) was the predictable as you would expect. The acting/script laughable and the basic plot along the same lines of any other teen slasher outing. That said it did exactly what it said on the tin, and made you jump and squirm about as the action happened. My friend actually tried to jump out of the way of a fairly pointy tree which came flying towards 'us' at one point... very funny to see peoples reactions.... and a room full of people wearing this ridiculous glasses was also a bit of sight. On the whole I'd say check it out as it's something different (the clarity in parts is astounding).. but don't expect too much of the actual film. mJFCJaSr2Xk
Al Massey
so would you say its better to see it in 3D or normal? as me and the wife are trying to find a 3D screening near us, or not bother with the hassle and just see it normally
marcAB10
saw this on sunday and couldn't agree more, went with some mates so it was a good laugh but the film itself was a tad lame, but the new style 3D glasses are a major improvement on the old blue and red ones. benkei
The cinema we went to didnt have it in 3D, so only saw it as a normal film. A good watch, as long as your not expecting a decent storyline
Mike
so would you say its better to see it in 3D or normal? as me and the wife are trying to find a 3D screening near us, or not bother with the hassle and just see it normally I really wouldn't bother with the non-3D version.. it's nothing special, unless your a big fan of the original. There are a few parts that are clearly 'borrowed' from other more worthy pictures... there's a 'Shining' sequence, a nice reference to Zombie Flesh Eaters (you know the bit I mean!).. but all in all there is nothing new to add to slashers on the whole. If you can see it in 3D I would definitely check it out.. I just did a search for it - Chichester is not really my local cinema. It was a 'Cineworld' cinema if that's any help? benkei
The only 'Showcase' cinema that does 3D in the West Midlands, I'm told, is the Walsall one. I went to Dudley

Axle
Not wishing to sound like a large Flower(too late), but are the glasses used re-usable, or disposable?
Mike
Not wishing to sound like a large Flower(too late), but are the glasses used re-usable, or disposable? The glasses are re-usable. They're actually quite robust.. made of plastic as opposed to the old cardboard ones! Although I suspect you get a new pair on every viewing. They're free too - I thought we might have to pay extra for them, but no.. you get them as you walk into the actual screen.
Axle
So you get to take them home? Only I didnt fancy the idea of wearing glasses which were potentially shared by 30,000 other people..
ManwithSupra
yeah you get to keep the glasses I went to see this film on sat last week and i thought the 3D effect was very good but like everyone has said the plot was a little lame, put it this way i would not have enjoyed it at all if i saw it on 2D
Mike
So you get to take them home? Only I didn't fancy the idea of wearing glasses which were potentially shared by 30,000 other people.. Yep, they're yours for the keeping! and they come in a little plastic pouch.. so not even the spotty usher gets their dirty mitts on them. I didn't really see the and the hygiene issues surrounding the 3D experience!? After Nandos experience I had before the film, all concerns about hygiene had left me..!? Carl
No one mentioned that the usualy wet t-shirted young female running from the killer was infact totaly naked in this film. I was hoping for more 3D on her but none the less the porn did improve the film for those 5 minutes.
