RedM
Cult comedy Red Dwarf is returning to TV, 21 years after its initial launch. The show has been resurrected by digital channel Dave for a two-part Easter weekend special, which sees the cast finally return to Earth. Not a big fan myself. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7851989.stm

AlexM
Hopefully they can make something good of it, I'd imagine the cast are quite well aged now though!
Carl_S
Can't wait. Worth getting my TV connected to receive it. (Liverpool accent) Rimmer! And yeah hope its the same cast. And they can't be that aged. 40 is not old.
Thorin
Brilliant can't wait. It went downhill with series 7, when Kochanski joined the crew, and I thought series 8 was very poor. Will be interesting to see what they do with it on earth.

I do hope they make a good couple of episodes to remember them by.
3LL
Agreed. I watched the series from when the better Kryton joined the crew. In series one kryten was only in it for one episode, but I have to say it was one of the best seasons. If you aint seen it pick it up on dvd, its dated, but still funny

If you aint seen it pick it up on dvd, its dated, but still funny I have also watched most of that series too. The one that Kryten was in was about the 'female' only crew on that crashed rocket IIRC. Did series one have the virtual game in it, where Rimmer imagined all awful things happening, and they did, rather than being fun?

Carl_S
Oh yeah Raven. The Smeg word. Legendary word. Wonder if it affected sales of Smeg kitchens for the better. Must have made working at one of their stockists more enjoyable at least.
Class One
I think they should leave it well alone. Revivals of "classic" TV often fails to impress.
hogmaw
Will the coked-up scouse rapist still be in it
Carl_S
I hope the black actor with dreads and the scouse accent will be there. He was the lynchpin. I thought he was found 'not guilty' anyway. And as for coke habits, can we not make allowances for some of life's pleasures and addictions and still remain human?

heckler
"THE Red Dwarf crew will come back to Earth when the show returns this Easter, 21 years since the science fiction series first blasted off. For eight series totalling 52 episodes Dave Lister wanted to return to his home planet. Now, at last, he has - in Red Dwarf: Back to Earth. Written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, the new show reunites Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten. The two-part series Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, will kick start a Red Dwarf Easter weekend from Good Friday on TV channel Dave. This will be followed by Red Dwarf: Unplugged, a "no holds barred" episode with no sets, no effects - and no autocue. "
Carl_S
hmm, that's brave stuff. Better now than in 40 years time when a lot of them will be have gone round the clock a bit more. I'm actually looking forward to this, becuase I missed the first series start (too young and inexperienced).
