It's not too bad a job, the only difficult part is handling the diff as it weighs a tonne. But you need to remove the prop shaft fromt the diff first. Then the two front support bolts cirlcled here, and disconnect the drive shafts fromt the diff which are held in with 6 10mm allen key headed bolts. The shafts only sit into the diff by a couple of mm so they should come out easily with some persuasion and a gentle tap of a hammer around the faying surface.

And then there is the 3 diff bush bolts which are at the back which again are an allen key head (12mm i think) and to undo these you will also probably need to disconnect the anti roll bar from its mounts on the subframe for better access.

Toyota list all four bolts shown in the pictures as stretch one use items, so they should be replaced, when the diff is changed. The new bolts must be tightened the a specified torque. It is up to you obviously, but for you own and other road users safety, they should be changed. I have the part numbers some where from changing my diffs over.

When disconnecting the shafts take care with the inner end covers, they can come off. This not a problem, but get them back on to avoid dirt contamination which will shorten the life of the inner CV joints.

do you have to total remove the prop from the car to get the diff out or can you just unbolt the diff end

Not too sure, you might be able to. But removing the prop is a piece of p*ss and its just 3 bolts onto the diff and two small bolts in the centre holding it up. Then it just slides out of the gearbox.
