jacko
Well today and yesterday i have had both turbos working, which is a nice change, but then probably tommorrow they wont be working again. They seem to go thru phases of both working and then just one for a bit, and then both again. Does that help narrow it down? Im going to take it to the garage soon, but first it's insurance this month.......
Scott
IACV VSV at a guess.
Ian C
If it's boosting normally on #1 then dumps all boost at 4000rpm then it'll probably be your EGCV, the one that opens to let exhaust gas through turbo 2. An intermittent issue like this might be a VSV problem. The VSV for that is located on a bracket slung off the bottom of the first turbo, along with the wastegate VSV. Tricky but not impossible to replace without taking half the contents of the engine bay out. -Ian
jacko
Just been for a drive and tried to pay attention to every little thing. Im getting around 3-4psi on the "2nd turbo", and can just hear what sounds like air gushing out of somewhere. Another thing ive noticed is that when the second turbo is working, but not actually online the car chatters a little bit, say sitting at 30 in 4th and then let off, but when it isnt working it doesnt do that, i just get a sort of short sharp dump noise. Im sure this will mean something to somebody, but my knowledge of the sequential system is pretty limited
Scott
Could be a faulty BOV
jacko
well ive replaced the standard BOV with my Greddy one, unless its something to do with the vac line to the bov...
Supradoopa
I had similar problems mate, worked through all the guides, eventually came down to my egcv actuator sticking. I replaced this and didn't have a worry afterwards. Have you had a look on max-boost that's probably the best guide I had. Hope it all works out for you bud

jacko
Just to let you know i tried the 5min TTC mod today and everything worked fine, so one of the vsv's is obviously slightly temperamental. Just need to find out if it's IACV or EGCV VSV now
DuaneT.Turbo
Hi, i've recently bought a Twin Turbo Aero Top Supra, It now has 65 Injectors, Envy Hybrid Turbos, HSK 264 Cams & Pulleys, Front Mounted Intercooler, Walbrw Fuel Pump and full HKS De-Cat Exhuast, When i got the car they had turned the boost right down to run the turbo's in... What would anyone recommend turning the boost up to? I heard the Turob's will go up to 2.5 Bar but have been told that 1 bar should do it.. Cheers
jacko
I should think 1.4 would be about as far as you'd want to go. Or are the envy hybrids rated to 1.6?

Steve
Yeah i was thinkin 1.5bar max! Cheers Have you got a AFR gauge fitted? If not, you may want to get one before increasing the boost too much to make sure it isn't going lean.

jacko
Ye cheers, i had a look on my epc disk but gave up after a while lol Ive put the car back into sequential mode now, after the 1.3 bar boost spike last night!! So far both turbos have been working, so fingers crossed it may have just been a knackered vac hose
