Anyone ever owned one of these? I saw one on the way home from work a few days ago it caught my eye as it looked really unique. Did a google search to find out a bit more about them. Very stange car :D but I quite like them :taped:

It's like Toyota decided to try designing a sort of car of the future prototype and it somehow made it into production. It's so crap it's good. :D

The Sera itself was a concept car that became production reality, launched in March 1990. Just under 16,000 were manufactured before the end of production in December 1995.

The vast majority of these cars were made in the first year (over 9000) with production tailing off due to various factors - namely the downturn in the Japanese economy as well as being a victim of fashion.

1.5 litre @ 108bhp

As mentioned, not exactly a performance car but very unique and rare :)

Pfft wikipedia, you can't trust that ;)

I don't like the sound of "suicide doors"

Ifr anyone is after one of these i saw one for sale in a garrage today in Greasborough near Rotherham for £995

That's a pretty good price, they seem to generally hold their value at around the 2-3k mark.

There's at least one of these up here in Aberdeen that i have seen a few times, must be weird driving one, the top is like a glass bubble.

That's maybe the same one I saw, I'm working up in Aberdeen at the moment. The one I saw was parked up at the hospital, maybe there was some kind of "Butterly wing" realated injury.

Must go through some amount of de-icer having one of those up here :D

The one opposite the village hall?

Im not hugely familiar with the area tbh, I lived in Wentworth down the road for 18 years but when i started driving (and so leared the geography) i moved to northampton. Its right next to a mini roundabout. The car was parked right at the front of the forcort.

Edit - looking at the map yes it does look like its oposite the village hall.

I wonder why Toyota didn't do a recall to sort out the issue with the doors not closing?

I remember speaking to someone at JAE and they told me some of the cars come with a 10 speaker "live" stereo setup that's supposed to be quite good. Otherwise I can't really see the appeal, I'd rather have a Subaru XVF if I was in the market for an ugly japanese car with nasty looking doors ;)

I had a test drive in one that was for sale at Pocket Savers in Hartley Witney. I did take a video and loads of pics of it. Nearly all of them are Auto and have the 5E-FE 1.5 16valve engine. My mates mother also has one in dark red mica...looks very smart too!

This looks very similar to the Toyota Paseo, unless it is?

If so, we have one in Eastbourne. :)

It is different to the Paseo...but has exactly the same engine and transmission
