Matt Harwood
Can you use the Type IV autobox fluid for the powersteering? I know most cars have the same fluid for both, But I thought I'd better ask as the Supra aint no ordinary car I've looked on mkiv.com but can't seem to find what I'm after... I'm sure its there somewhere!
Alex
I got given a bottle of ATF dextron 2 when I asked Toyota for P/S fluid....but then they gave me a radiator for an automatic!??!

Should have kept the auto rad, assuming they were charging a manual rad price! You could have fed the PAS fluid through the cooler section. Alex
Latching onto Chris's post and diverting the thread... I HAVE got the auto rad!!! I would really like to feed engine oil through the cooler but I need a sandwich plate and the correct connectors. Leon says it can be done. It might need custom hoses...but it might be worthwhile. Why would I put pas fluid through it? Or are you thinking of when an FMIC is fitted and the tube cooler has to be replaced to make room??? I don't have an FMIC so its not a problem at the moment. It's not really an efficient enough cooler for engine oil, and the extra thermal stresses added to the stock cooling system may well tip it over the edge. best to stick to liquid to air for the engine oil, unless you go for a much more efficient water rad, then something like the Laminova liquid / liquid coolers are excellent see http://www.laminova.se The stock PAS cooler isn't very good, and I am seeing a few cars where PAS pump failure MAY have been exacerbated by the fluid becoming overheated. If you have the cooler the water system will easily deal with the PAS heat and it wouldn't be at all hard to plumb it up.
HedgehogSandwich adi
The NEW t-iv (black cans stuff) is compatible with all other fluids, dex II, III, etc. but why stick T-Iv when when dex II will do the job. keep the T-Iv for the gearbox. Matt Harwood
I've done it now. I bought some DEX 2. The reason I was wondering if T-IV was OK is because I have a load of it here. Thanks anyway. Chris, The HKS intercooler comes with a PAS cooler relocation kit and the cooler itself is much smaller than the stock one. I assume now this is a BAD thing. Is it worth trying to use the relocation kit but retaining the stock cooler? I never realised PAS fluid got hot!

If you have time, money and incliabtion a better cooling solution is a proper baby transmission cooler in the opposite duct to the stock I/c, or even IN the stock I/C duct now you have a FMIC, and use the ducting provided out into the low pressure area of the O/S front wheel arch. Matt Harwood
Sounds good. Do you have any recomendations on who/where would sell something like this?
Chris Wilson
I use Mocal coolers. Demon Tweeks have some in stock, you only need a baby one. You will need unions and some hose and clips too.
