Carl_S
I hear Al Jizzera is a great channel for news, but I have no actual experience of this. I hear they coverage can be quite bloody, and for that reason I am not inclined to look deeply into it. I love the bbc, their style of reporting, and the wonderful newsreaders and journalists there. I have the greatest respect and admiration for this wonderful british institution and have been known just to pay the licence fee soley for their output. penguin
But I really do not think it is good to compare Israeli's to Nazi's. Unless you are looking at both as people's who have both good and bad in them, and who have the potential to be a boon for mankind. And let's face it, with Nazis, that is a difficult point to argue, becuause it is an ideology and not a people. Nazism and Zionism are both ideologies - and if you try to compare the two you'll find stark similarities, so in my mind, zionist are the nazi's of the 21st century. SKY Channel 514 if you had viewed the coverage - you'll understand they are not as biased as most people think. Israeli spokesmen/women got more PR time on aljazeera than any other news network! Carl_S
Hello Penguin, how are you? On your point about ideologies, I can say that there is no connection between Israelis and Zionists, and if you think there is, perhaps you could state why you think so, or point me to resources where I can learn more about the connection. Thanks for your time. Carl

Gazboy
I don't see the connection. regardless of what Hamas did or did not do, do you agree that this is a humanitarian issue? If so, then shouldn't the BBC recognise it as such to the betterment of the innocent palestinian people. Sorry for sounding like a broken record, if the roles were reversed, I am sure that the BBC would have reacted differently. History has a way of repeating itself, innocent blood spilt rarely goes unpunished. Why would the BBC help the people who elected the kidnappers of their reporter? Over 50% voted for them (35% voted Labour in 2005 UK elections) so as offensive as this sounds (not enough sugar in the world to coat this pill mate) how innocent are they? I still doubt the BBC would get involved if the roles were reversed. Your last paragraph pretty much sums up why there will never be peace in the Middle East - both sides think they have been wronged so ultimately one of them will have to draw a line without revenge/punishment if there is to be peace, trouble is everyone wants it to be the 'other side' which is why they keep going around in circles. Carl_S
Do you believe that is realistic, what needs to be done to get there, and how long do you estimate it would take to achieve?
penguin
well it's one of two options.... 1st option is a one state solution - which no doubt would cause chaos... 2nd option is the two state solution.. read up about it on google as it's too deep to talk about on here.... it would only work if the US/uk/europe stopped supporting Israel and start focusing on the two state solution. no solution = no peace. Carl_S
Very interesting Penguin, I think you could be right, but it will be so difficult to do. Barack Obama must get behind the idea then if it is to succeed. But then it could be a longer term thing, and be only viable in 100 - 200 years time. I respect that you don't want to go into detail here. Thanks for providing me with this info. Carl.

imi
the two state solution. What, the one that was proposed by the Palestinians in 67 (despite the oppressors taking over their land) that was rejected by the Israelis..... At the end of the day; Israel is now in a position to re-negotiate its business arrangements (funding, military support, etc) with the rest of the world thanks to its bullying tactics - as everyone wants them to terminate their terrorism over the Palestinians. Carl_S
Hamas - Terrorist IRA - Terrorist Al Kaieda - Terrorist Israelis - not Terrorists. Tamil Tigers - Terrorist I think it's fair to say that Israelis do not commit acts of terrorism on the palestinian people, it is a war of self defence. And in war, you try to win. The Israeli's made many phone calls to warn people to get out of areas being bombed. That is my opinion, and it would take a hell of a lot to change it. Let's look forward to the future, and see solutions, whoever thought of them first does not matter. Thank God Obama is in charge of the states now. He will protect Israel and Palestine in my opinion. And make sure of strong borders. So important.
