Digger009
My rear wiper motor is knackered and have ordered a new one, but have just thought I'll take a look and make sure its easy enough. Well I cant figure out how to get into it!!!! Anyone know how, I hear plenty of people have had to do it, so I guess its not too hard, just dont wanna damage any of the interior if I can help it. I guess its like the dash, just a matter of knowing where the fittings are, but atm I dont have a clue. Anyone know how to access it? SteveR
Have you removed the boot lid cover (the big peice of plastic) or is that what you're stuck trying to remove?

bodilx6
Yep, remove plastic. (be careful not to crack it since it can be difficult to get it off). As far as I remember there are three screws underneath holding the motor but also a screw from the top through the wiper. you need to remove the small cover at the bottom of the wiper arm itself to get to it. Use a long screwdriver or something to wedge if off at the contact points. If you gently pull, you can see and feel where its attached. Its something like 8 points or so. SteveR
To remove the massive plastic thingy, get your fingers under it and and move around the edge until you find one of the many locations where it will feel attached. It's held in with push-fit clips so just get some fingers each side of this and pull carefully but firmly. Repeat with the next, and the next.... Done. Digger009
I could feel about 3/4, are they just push fits? So I can just use a large screwdriver to pull them off, or is there a clip or something on them?
n boost
I have one for sale in the parts section, but if you have ordered a new one then i guess its too late lol!

Digger009
After reading the "be careful" bits to this, decided to wait until the new motor arrives. Thanks for the help.
SteveR
It's really nothing to be worried about - I'd nip out, pull my cover off and take pics of it and putif back on in 5 mins flat if I could, but my car is on holiday at the moment! Max Headroom
Use a flat wooden spoon to give yourself some leverage. Get the spoon close to the fixings and they do just pop out.
Digger009
Its more now to do with the fact its 12 year old plastic thats not moved since the day it rolled off the factory line, might be a bit stuck or fragile by now. I'm expecting the motor in the next couple of days, so its not like I'll be putting it off too long (I hope). I cant let it be one of those "tomorrow" jobs, I do need this. Would just rather show a bit of caution. I've had the dash off 5/6 times, and I've done damage to at least 3 of the 5 screw holes for the top section! Me and careful tend not to mix too well. spartan
Use a flat wooden spoon to give yourself some leverage. Get the spoon close to the fixings and they do just pop out. The wife nipped out for half-an-hour so I rummaged through her (kitchen!) drawers for a couple of wooden spoons. Took me a minute to work out that the spoon end is more effective than the handle (doh!) but after that I was away and had the whole thing off with all clips intact (bar one that someone before me had broken). Two spoons can be better than one, if you can get both sides of the clip. Cheers!
