Sharpie
Anyone else have their IP addresses allocated to someone else ? I use static IP addresses at home and BT has issued the same range to another BT customer. I have been without service for 10 days now......have made 15 phone calls which, is 6hrs of my time......not happy (Less bbs time) Seems like I'm not the only one as I have been added to the pile "to be fixed". It appears that paying for a business grade service and having a BT AM means nothing in today's world. Now, where is that NTL letter that was on here........... Keith C
Only solution is to switch providers to ones that give a ****. There is no SLA with normal ADSL, so they can keep you down as long as they like and all they'll have to do is refund you for the days you were down. My advice would be to call Eclipse and take out a package with them. How much are you paying for which package with BT?
Shovels
My advice would be to call Eclipse and take out a package with them I would second that! Eclipse have got a really good service, and you can have a fixed IP address for free. They do a £14.99 2Mb line with a 1gb transfer allowance and £1.75 per gig after. Tom S
Pete, Who is you BT AM...... PM me will you and I will try to add some pressure matey
martynb
They don't give a damn about customer service - anyone would be better. Trouble is you are still using BT kit if you use another supplier and even if your exchange is unbundled it is still plugged into BT kit... Keith C
Yes, but by using someone else you would remove the problem of not being able to get hold of someone in a situation like this.
martynb
I agree entirely and I'm not with BT either - it is just annoying that it all comes back to BT kit in the end

We had a bright spark turn up to one of our offices to put in another ISDN 2 circuit and as soon as he connected it the adsl went down. "nothing to do with me mate" and he cleared off refusing to even look at the adsl fault as it hadn't been allocated to him!!!! Took two days to get it working again and needless to say it was their fault - the two days were mainly used up with pointing out it most likely WAS their fault. Turns out if you put isdn next to adsl in the dp it knocks it out
Sharpie
3 weeks tomorrow I have been told I'm on the pile of people to be done on the next of never....as this is a big project for them now due to the number of people affected. No wonder they plan to announce their 5 millionth broadband customer in the UK this week, guess where they got the IP range from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4408219.stm Thanks for the offer but, I don't think any hassle on my AM will speed this up. I'm also on the limit for the 512/256 (20:1) service due to my location so, can't switch provider for anything better/faster. 1st trouble in 6yrs with BT lines so, not bad I guess...... Supragal
BT can be a total PITA. Classic one at the mo, we've got a line thats gone down and no-one knows the number so I called up raising a fault for someone to come and investigate. Refused point blank to come out unless I knew the number. But the line doesn't work so how can I get the number? Gold Partner my ass! Worst bit is, it is actually tagged with a number so I presumed that would be that line number, nope, apparently not. More likely they gave that to someone else hense ours not working anymore! But, err, yeah Eclipse is good we use them too. No major probs yet.
MONKEYmark
my first year on broadband i was paying more for a static ip address was £55 a month for broadband with ANDREWS & ARNOLD what a crock of shit they were. they were saying i was using too much bandwidth and capped my account through working hours to less than a 56k modem. never go back to ADSL had loads of downtime too. they even cut me off a week before they should have and would not turn it back on. people slag off NTL but its been great for me with downtime very rare.
