You need to spend a little more time acquainting yourself with the search facility as it's been discussed many many times before.

Basically you'll never get any major gains from an NA.

Best things to do are decat and an exhaust. Airbox is very efficient and a cone style filter will do nothing for you.

Aside from Supercharging and single turbo conversions you'll not get too far. Those two options are quite expensive compared to a TT engine swap, even then you're only worth doing this if you've got a very good example NA as you may as well sell and trade up due to all the other extras you'll get on a TT.

your not finding much info because there isnt much. Its widely accepted getting any more power out of the NA is more trouble/more expensive than its worth. A decat might get you a little. But i wouldnt bother with changing the air filter as the stock one is better than the after market ones. Best bang for buck is probably NOS but thats not so usefull on a track and you will struggle to get it insured.

The only thing you can do to the engine for a reasonable price is get one of nics, import pimp on here, manifolds. Gives about 15 bhp. Though he needs 3 orders. But im sure some were on here for sale. Other than that as above really.

Good advice posted so far :)

Unless you are talking about getting an extra 10bhp there is nothing you can do without getting into very, very high cost modifications. The NA -> TT conversion is by far the most cost effective way of increasing power. With BPU mods and a suitable clutch it'll allow 400bhp, something which even the NA turbo conversion will struggle to acheive for many times the cost.

NA engine and power do not go hand in hand without a significant budget or some new steps being made. There are many reasons why people don't bother with them and hence why there are not many threads on NA mods.

If power is not an aim then go for stripping the thing, getting some decent brakes and master cylinder, suspension fully setup, this is the sort of thing that gets discussed far more often and it doesn't matter whats under the bonnet when discussing that :)

i used to spend quite a lot of time down at santa pod and i always thought nitrous was classed as a type of forced induction and definately not na ?? am i wrong because nitrous car usually come in a class by themselves ?

Nitrous isn't forced induction, it creates a bigger explosion in the cylinder because the oxygen is much, much denser when the spark plug fires. The nitrous cools the charge air, doesn't force it in.

Even making the thing light wont make it faster than what you can get from a tt. BHP/Ton in a bpu tt is probably around 250bhp, which means that if the n/a is at 220bhp you would need to get it below 1000kg and good luck with that! Click my link at the bottom on swapping the engine with a tt if you fancy going down that route.
