AlexM
Looking forward to the dash update, seems like a 'cheap' way for me to lose some more weight.
Paul Whiffin
Looking forward to the dash update, seems like a 'cheap' way for me to lose some more weight. Yep, I looked into having fibreglass dashboards mad but couldn't really see the point if this method works.

Maybe i missed it but what kind of tires are you going to run? Wont be anything in it weight wise, may be slightly lighter as they are thinner. We have to run on Toyo R888 tyres in the Time Attack series.

Paul Whiffin
Just started the ball rolling on converting my engine to VVTi. I already have a VVTi block in the car so that makes life a tad easier in that department. Now from what I can tell the main problem when running the VVTi on big power cars is the lack of off the shelf "race" camshaft profiles available. All thats available is HKS offering them in 264. So I'm going to expense of having a one off billet inlet cam made to my own spec all installed in one of my big valve cylinder heads. From what I can see other cars running VVT on just the inlet side have some big gains, so I'm hoping for more bhp/torque across the rev range and hopefully a bigger power band to. Its going to be a few months in the making this one so you will have to sit tight waiting for the results.
Miguel
Just out of interest, what differences have you found between the VVTi and non-VVTi block?
Paul Whiffin
Just out of interest, what differences have you found between the VVTi and non-VVTi block? As far as I know just the oil feed for the VVT.
johnny g
Are you going to produce cams for the VVTi's?
Paul Whiffin
Are you going to produce cams for the VVTi's? Weren't planning on it unless there's a big enough market for it which I doubt, can get them made as one off's if needed. Rough cost is about £900 + VAT for just the inlet. Miguel
As far as I know just the oil feed for the VVT. That's present on a normal block mate. It's where the oil pressure sensor would normally be; the sensor is moved to the oil filter housing on a VVTi.
Kirk
Now that sounds interesting, question does come to mind though... why bother if your engine is good enough as it is
