Problems with power!

I have a N/A Auto Supra.

When i start it up it rev's to about 3000 even when it's hot-i have to tap the throttle to get it back down to just under 1000 which is how it should be.

If i don't tap the throttle it rev's up and down on its own constantly.

Over the last week occassionally when i drive i lose power, i can put my foot to the floor and it won't rev over 3000 at all.

Can anyone advise or help?? :)

Thanks but mine is not sticking at 3000 rev's, it won't go past 3000 !! it then revs up and down up and down until i blip the throttle then it goes down.

it only happens now and then, but everytime i start it, the revs fly upto 3000 !!:(

it may be down too the engine management:( if it only goes up too 3k rpm and 3k rpm when starting.

It's really strange and only does it when it feels like it. The only way to explain it is when i had my TT 300zx and the MAF used to play up in the rain feels exactly like my Supra does when it plays up!!

does the engine Management light come on? Also check the throttle body it my be sticking

No engine management light on at all?

When i am idle the revs are high then if i don't blip the throttle it revs up and down.

But... i can't explain why i have such a loss of power when i am driving?? When it happened sat night i though great!!

When i jumped in it sunday morning it was fine again, then last night on my way home from work it happened again!!!

hmmm this is strange. just need too hope some one can help you more.

My b/f is a jap performance car specialist but mostly with 300zx's, the garage he ran has had to shut due to the council etc so will ask him to stick it on the ramps this wkend and try to see what the prob's are then i'll more than likely be after some bits!!!

Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the ecu?

Could be the throttle position sensor or idle control valve?

Will try that this afternoon, thanks

Ok here's a new one! Driving to work this morning. Get about 30 miles up the m5 and i get the loss of power feeling again, the rev's drop and all of a sudden the exhaust sounds very loud!

Seem's to be not going past 3000 rev's again and won't come out of second gear.

I get off the motorway and it's no power all the way to my work (only a mile). I pull into my carpark and it just dies, not power steering nothing.

Got it started enough to get it into a space!!

Now what??

She finally died lastnight!! Wouldn't rev past 4000 without missing and wouldn't change out of 2nd gear!!

All good though after all that she's in the garage today and it seem's to be an ECU fault, should be back on the road by this evening!!:eyebrows:
