Gaz6002
Anyone watching this? Channel 4. My god, I'm shocked just watching it. People working at a Little Chef actually ridiculing a 3*Michelin star chef LMFAO. I don't even know where to start. To quote a woman a second ago when looking at the new menu: "there's no pictures. Some people can't read so they need to see pictures of the food." WTF!!! I have a rule: NEVER eat anywhere that shows you pictures of the food. There are some real weirdos in that part of the world; I know, I was raised about 5 mins from that restaurant. Still, I'm shocked people are so closed-minded about someone trying to give CPR to a dying British institution. Disclaimer: I don't eat at Little Chefs, but would miss seeing them if they didn't exist. Sometimes seeing a lone Little Chef is a moment of sanity on a long motorway journey. Or maybe I'm just a werido.

tooquicktostop
So you have a menu full of pictures of the food? Oh no, that will teach me for skim reading !! I have the pictures of each menu (changes every 2 weeks) up on a white board to prevent the chefs straying from the standard we set at the weekly tasting ! Gaz6002
Oh no, that will teach me for skim reading !! I have the pictures of each menu (changes every 2 weeks) up on a white board to prevent the chefs straying from the standard we set at the weekly tasting ! I didn't think so... I'm talking about kebab shops, bad Chinese restaurants and the like. Keeping standards is a whole different thing - and something I can relate to. michael
Nothing too unexpected from the Little Chef side, they have done similar "proper chef is shocked at how they do it" shows before. What confuses me is how anyone thought Heston would be the right one to turn it around for them, a fine chef with some interesting (stolen from Ferran Adria) ideas but not what the customers want. It needs a Kitchen Nightmares back to basics type approach with better ingredients, not magic beans and exploding cake that's wasted on the sorts of people who dine there. Worrying how he spends a lot of time gazing into the back of the car instead of looking at the road in the driving shots though.

Charlotte
Marco Pierre-White? He'd blow the budget, which is one of the reasons why HB just doesn't work. Chocolate ice-cream with aroma of orange...OK.
