Ark
To use donington as an example (same goes for Oulton Park) the circuit has 2 or 3 permamently sited microphones that are connected to Db meters, both at the circuit, and remotely, to be be permanently readable by the local District Councils. ... Donington is next door to an airport FFS! I think jet engines make a tad more noise than a few cars. Anyway, I've booked onto that GP day at Silverstone (March 6th), and there are 10 places currently remaining. Very Supra friendly track - recommended. SteveL
Its funny isn't it... if you live near an airport you can't complain too much about low flying aircraft or noise - 'cos they tell you you're too emotional about the whole thing.(my own experience!) But if you live near a race circuit you can stop people having safe fun! - ok - "we'll go for a race around the M25 again... thats safe and has no noise restrictions" ... rant over.... Donny were tight on the Time attack peeps last year, but most of us couldn't get any grip anyway! (snow, 1-2 deg C etc). Oulton was anal about the whole thing - probably in light of Chris's comments, because of the diligent council members. Snetterton were pretty good, they pulled Paul on his 3rd lap a while back... and wouldn't let him back on track until it was significantly reduced (112dB I think?) Brands is the only circuit I've never had a problem with (hopes that isn't the death statement!) - probably because it sits in a valley. It's still 105dB but thats a normal track day limit for them, no special day or rates are normally applied. .. just my observations

Gazboy
Mine is 74db. It's got to be the GP circuit at Brands surely- the Indy track, while nice just doesn't have the same appeal.

SteveR
so can we go to a noisy day pleeeeeaaase? unlikely... This is the sort of money Donington are charging pre season for their noisy test sessions (you need a race licence to take part).
